School Dux
Today was our second last day of school, and we had our Grade 7 Awards Ceremony. I received the L.O.T.E. (Japanese) award, and school Dux. If you don't know what school Dux is, it's the award which goes to the highest-achieving and smartest student in the school. Turns out that was me.
I just thought you guys would like to hear this.

Yup, everybody loves a braggart.
Just kidding, congratulations.
Just kidding, congratulations.
Hmm... and here I thought it was a new addition to the word filter.
Congratulations! I didn't quite expect to see this from the tact you sometimes lack on these forums, but then again that and intelligence are different things. Enjoy your prize.
Congratualtions!
Is it a certificate, a medal, a solid gold trophy, what? Or did they just tell you?

When I first read the title I thought "Dux" was "suxs" and that the swear filter changed it.
As for you I think you are beyond impressive. I came close to an A average in school a few times and I imagine you must have done alot more work than me and I remember feeling like if I had done more I'd be doing too much.
Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

I'm not necessarily implying you don't deserve it, but I have learned in my time that highest achievements do not necessarily correlate with highest intelligence.
Could you get any proof of that before I congratulate you?
Aww, nothing beats depressing kids who are happy for their achievements...?
I'll just go with more depressants, though. If you get extremely happy over an award, you didn't deserve it. If it means next to nothing to you, you perhaps have a deeper interest in your studies as well. To put it very bluntly.
My strategy was to be secretly happy and just pretended indifference to fit in with the nerds. The problem is, if you confess your happines to your equals, they think you're a bit stupid ('cause the awards are not supposed to matter), and if to those who did less well, they'll just think you're boasting. So, you need to shut up. This is so deeply imprinted in me that I REALLY was surprised to see the post here
Conga-rats, any way. Enjoy the award before the world suppresses you

Is this the end of your school year now? Summer holidays I suppose... seems odd here at -2C!

I disagree. I think someone will be happy if they've been working towards an award, they have a right to be proud of their achievements. It's one thing to enjoy learning, be good at it and also aim for an award or whatever, it's a whole new level to just learn for the sake of learning and ignore the, um, can't think of a good word. Praises?
Why hide your happiness? I can see it might look like boasting if you shout about it everywhere, but to be happy and proud is to be expected IMO.

Yeah, I agree with Sparrowhawk. Of course you can show your happiness when you get an award... I would myself get rather pissed off if I was in a contest and dearly wanted the price but didn't got it and the one who got it showed no happiness at all...
There's a difference between being proud of an award, or proud of a task. Sure, it's nice to win the Nobel prize, but what you *did* is more important.
Way To Go DD95..Kudos & Congrats.
Could you get any proof of that before I congratulate you?
Iĺl try and take a photo of it and show you guys.
Is it a certificate, a medal, a solid gold trophy, what? Or did they just tell you?
Itś a certificate, and a $15 voucher to some shop I´ve never heard of. But since I won the LOTE award as well, I got another $15 voucher, so that´s $30 to spend!

Lol. Sometimes I miss the naivety and innocence 12 year old me approached the world with...
But hey, good on me for scoring 30 bucks.
