I'll just go with more depressants, though. If you get extremely happy over an award, you didn't deserve it. If it means next to nothing to you, you perhaps have a deeper interest in your studies as well. To put it very bluntly.
My strategy was to be secretly happy and just pretended indifference to fit in with the nerds. The problem is, if you confess your happines to your equals, they think you're a bit stupid ('cause the awards are not supposed to matter), and if to those who did less well, they'll just think you're boasting. So, you need to shut up. This is so deeply imprinted in me that I REALLY was surprised to see the post here
