Don't listen to redbot1... of course you can burn down the tree. Just open Windinkedit, go to screen 534, make sure the talking tree is highlighted, right click and select properties. Then, delete the line "s2-sec2" from the "script:" box. Now, save the file. Go ahead and start back at your last save and you will now be able to burn down the tree.

Umm, yeah but that's cheating. I think redbot1 meant you can't do it as is.

Gee, you think so? I would have never guessed that going into the editor to change the game would be cheating, how silly of me.

Seriously though, (I think this has been said before) what is it with you and pointing out the largely obvious?

Um I was just teasing. I figured that you knew that and were joking, so I decided to tease you about it. That's why I used the wink smilie. I didn't mean to offend. I'm sorry.

Naw, DD IS pretty easily offended at times. Meh.

Anyway, it's supposed to be the Evil Unburnable Tree Of Stupid Puns And Doom! Leave it alone!

Did nobody ever notice that the tree is burnable in an older version of Dink and that it reveals a staircase to a secret buggy area?

Probably not, given that the majority of people who've played have played 1.06 or later.

Hmm... does that mean we'll be seeing much, much less of you pointing out the obvious in threads where it is confoundingly unnecessary?

I honestly can't say. I don't try to predict the future. Besides you have to remember that what is obvious to you may not be to me, I may post the "obvious" because it isn't obvious to me.

I'm reasonably tolerant (I think), but I'm starting to be a bit curious about that, myself. So I second your question, Phoenix!

Maybe we should avoid the rhetorical questions... they're so easily misinterpreted as questions requiring answers...
EDIT: And that wasn't specificially targetting Phoenix's question..

You cannot predict how you will respond? Are you saying you have no control over your actions?

In this case, and in great majority of others, you claimed that you knew you were stating the obvious. Based on this trend, it would be a safe prediction that if you stopped posting what you perceived as obvious, you would, in fact, be pointing out the obvious much, much less.

Oh, sorry. That wasn't meant as argument. I was trying to point something out, not argue. Sorry that my wording made it seem otherwise. That's not what I wanted. I hate being misunderstood. But this time is my fault. Man it sucks when you're the reason you're misunderstood.

EDIT: "Was" was changed to "wasn't". That's what it was meant to be. Man that error is embarrasing.

Arg! That's twice now I've misunderstood when it's my fault! Okay clarification time. What I meant is that each situation is unique. Like everyone else it depends on the mood I am in at the time. It also depends on each individual situation. Each situation is unique. The reason I don't like to guess how I'll react in the future is not because I don't know how I'd react in certain situations. I do. Or that I have not control over my actions. I do. It's that I don't know which situation will occur in the future. There are an number infinite variables to take into account. There are also situations that I have not yet encountered so would not know how I'd react because I have no experience to draw from. That's why. I hope that long winded clarification clears things up.

ADDITION: I'm sorry that my wording created this second misunderstanding and reiterate the apology for my wording creating the first.

Okay, apology accepted, though... it would have been just as meaningful and more succinct to say, "I'm not going to bother to answer your original question."

Before everybody starts explaining rp64's attempt at humor to DD, I would like to note that DD probably understands the humor and is merely playing along.

Thank you.
