No really that is way too much. As consoles require better technology to play games with shinier graphics they become as expensive as desktop computers. However a desktop is so much more versatile. Thats why I play PC so much more than console.

While I expected not to be able to afford one, I think this price means for me that I won't be able to afford one in the forseeable future either.

Way too expensive for my taste. Unfortunately. (sheds a tear)
You're kidding me? I could buy a car with those money.
I just heard on the NZ TV One news show, Breakfast, that that release date is the Japan release date, but that it'll be released to the rest of the world 6 days later. That's unusally fast! Unprecedented in terms of at least the time since the release of the PSX.
A console is better than a PC usually up until the last year of it's life, or about a year before the next console is released. Why? It's because consoles are *dedicated* machines, and computers are built to do everything. It's a case of a jack of all trades vs expert in one.
Maybe I heard it wrong then. Anyway the main point was the six day gap, not the date. Such a short gap was surprising to me. Especially since some countries, such as NZ, are slow to get such things. For example, here in NZ we didn't get the X-Box 360 until late in the first half of March.
