The Dink Network

As I find chats to be amusing and social and whatnot, and many people find it horrible to install something as complicated as an IRC client on their PCs, I've decided to give them a helping hand, by giving them a java applet from which they can chat. For those of you doing stuff manually, come to irc.freenode.net, port 6667. (default) The channel is #DinkSmallwood.

My assistance does not end there, though. I bring you what I like to call the backlogs from the chat as well. This is a 24/7 view of what has been said in the chat since late evening on July 19, 2005, GMT+1.

Last, and by all means least, there are the chat statistics. Amusing indeed. These update every 30 minutes after every even hour. That is, 00:30, 02:30, 04:30, etc. This is in GMT+1, as always in my case. For you it might be 01:30 and 03:30 and so on... yeh.

I hope some of these things can bring more dinkers into the chat, there are never enough people in.

Maybe the nickname you choosed are banned?

That happened to me, after I reconnected my connection it worked fine.

Do what it says, main kline@aitvaras.net with that output, and tell them you haven't even been on the network before. (if that's true) See what they say.

Hmmm, couldn't connect - autokilled me for some reason - I've not used IRC for months now... so I've no idea why...

Hey, great job picking the server, I was autokilled as well. Whatever program that server is running is way too overzealous in keeping people out.

What's the point in that? I still have a chat channel (#Dinksmallwood) on Freenode. Might as well use that if you decide to go to Freenode.

Sure... but it may take a while. The system which I run the stats on has fudgeed up big time, and I'm totally not in the mood to fix that today. I will fix it, though, but I'm tired right now. I've sat in a car for something like 6 hours now, and fixing a PC is the last thing I wanna do.

Oh yes, and it's worth mentioning that the previously gathered stats are probably gone.

What happened to those large "scheduled" chats...

Although I don't really have much time for Dink Chats right now, I tried both the Java Chat and the IRC chat, and it would seem that both are dead. (I was able to connect on the IRC chat, but I got tons of weird messages, and there was nobody besides me, not even a moderator.)

Nope, never anyone there. Only ikkejw from time to time, but that's useless because he's in my MSN list anyway...

redink1 and I idle in there pretty frequently, though I haven't witnessed an actual discussion in there in a long time.
