Did it not rock totally?... It had its moments like the out of place "NOOOOOOOO" but other than that it tied many loose ends that were persistently waking me in the middle of the night in a cold sweat... But one thing still never got cleared up, like how the fudge did Chubaca hook up with Han Solo? It seems I will continue to never get any sleep, but I would like to hear anyone else's views on the movie??

So if you can't sleep, then that must mean your mother is being tortured to death by Tusken raiders?

Though it had some piss poor acting at times, I thought it was a fantastic film. Certain moments (I won't ruin them for anyone) really did get everybody in the cinema sitting on the edge of their seat.

As for the "Nooooo!"... that was so bad it was untrue.

I'm not sure if it was mentioned in the movies or not, but I think I remember reading in one of the many Star Wars books that Han Solo rescued Chewie from imperial slavery, and Chewie had a life-debt with Han.

I didn't see the movie. And I haven't seen any star wars movies. I have no idea what you guys're talking about.

I felt like sharing.

Hmmm, I remember the original Trilogy with such fond memories. Star Wars: A New Hope was the first movie I saw twice at a cinema - ah... the crazy 70s.

I've not been a fan of the latest trilogy, although I guess this last one was the best of them. I didn't believe the Anakin descent into darkness - sorry, but a few bad dreams or premonitions just didn't do it for me. Ah well, it was better than the last one in the first trilogy, all those little furry slippers running around defeating the empire.

The movie will definatly be up there with the greats (It would of been even if it had sucked totally, since star wars holds a place in everyones heart, except if your merlin)
But something was on my mind as I walked out (amist a crowd of chicks as we all squeezed into a small car *cough* anyway) But what was I talking about....
Oh yea, Will Lucas make the last three, I know he said he would make no more but that was after 6 and he obviously welched on that deal...

i wrote this like the day after i saw it at midnight.

-------

i know everyones gonna see it anyway but this is why the whole trilogy was a failure and a let down for any star wars fan.

a. you can cut out episode 1 and it affects the story in no way. that whole episode was pointless and stupid.

b. episode 3 jumps around and doesnt cover many areas that should have been. this is because episode 1 and 2 spent all their time on the crapper doing nothing so episode 3 had to try and do all the work. because of this it 1. jumps around 2. misses too many things 3. still has the same fabulous feel as episode 1 and 2

c. jar jar is in every episode

d. episode 3 had what should really have been episode 1 and 2: 1 the republic, and 2 the empire. episode 3 has nothing of what it SHOULD have shown: the foundation of the rebellion against the empire.

e. because of this, one minute everyone is the republic and democratic, the next there is only the emperor and everyone is in a different uniform and they are building the death star. they never show the transition, its like nonsensical. the attempt to show palpatines takeover of the republic is a complete failure and its a disgrace.

f. overall they just all suck.

g. yoda isnt cool, sure he jumps around but hes just a fabulous computer not the real yoda.

h. special effects overall are faggoty and disgrace the creativity of the originals.

you dont get sucked into the story or the world, its more like a series of coincidences crammed into one single episode that attempts to do what episode 1 and 2 also failed to do: be a star wars movie.

Well from "my point of view", they didn't suck.

a. you can cut out episode 1 and it affects the story in no way. that whole episode was pointless and stupid.

What about Anakin's childhood? If that movie was cut out, how would everyone know how Anakin became Ben's padawan? And why is the Trade Federation trying to kill Padme?

-

It wasn't doing 'nothing'. Sure, there are some parts left out but maybe those will appear in deleted scenes, I saw Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets with deleted scenes and it explained the story a lot better.

-

c. jar jar is in every episode

Even though he is really annoying, Star Wars fans like him, so how is that a let down?

-

e. because of this, one minute everyone is the republic and democratic, the next there is only the emperor and everyone is in a different uniform and they are building the death star. they never show the transition, its like nonsensical. the attempt to show palpatines takeover of the republic is a complete failure and its a disgrace.

Palpatine already HAD control over the republic, just like Dooku said. "What if I told you that the republic is being controlled by the dark lord of the Sith?" (or something like that)

-

f. overall they just all suck.

If you don't like it, don't watch it and take your crap somewhere else.

-

g. yoda isnt cool, sure he jumps around but hes just a fabulous computer not the real yoda.

fabulous computer? Do you expect them to use puppets?!?

-

h. special effects overall are faggoty and disgrace the creativity of the originals.

No way, they were cool! Things blowing up left and right, crazy Skywalkers crashing battleships into the core worlds.

-

It connects the first two episodes to the last three, of course it has to have some coincedences. What does it need to be a 'star wars movie'? Does it have to use everything from the 4th 5th and 6th? Huh?

mildly put, star wars fans hate jar jar. jar jar is a really really bad special effect, and very annoying and unfunny.

the new movies do suck in comparison to the old trilogy... where they should have been awesome, they were at most adequate.

Nothing can compare with the old ones but I think under the grandure of the first trilogy, the second does its best to try to keep up with the old. But one thing you have to realize is that the three newer movies are being marketed to a different audience, and what ever sells to majority is what goes...

Too soon. Summer boredom's done a number on my social life, it seems..

Anyway, you can probably look at the movie in two ways: the cinematic saga as just one snapshot of the Star Wars history put on film, or as the story of Anakin's fall to his redemption as Vadar. Both make sense to me, but I prefer the latter because it puts a more personal twist to the tale, opposed to the political and supernatural propaganda that the rest of the books focus on.

And Yoda is cool as hell, wtf!

Exactly. I'm sick of all the computer crap. It looks way cooler to have stuff really blow up. (Like in the Phantom of the Opera movie they actually set the opera house on fire.)

Glad this thread's here...

I loved the movie. Almost cried at two different points. I do agree with Joshriot though in that they could have done a lot more to show the empire and republic...the story between the characters though was done using just the right amount of time and context.

Hopefully many of the scenes that should have taken place were filmed, but just edited out for time constraints. As much as I hate company's doing it it's understandable and I'll just buy it on DVD.

There was a conversation about this on another forum;

-What do you prefer: Computer generated characters or puppets and real effects?

Its a tough choice. There's a lot more you can do one computer than in real life, but no matter how well you animate something computer generated will always have that "shiny plastic" look that reminds you its not real. Puppets are made from real materials and really do appear to belong in a scene although they cant do anywhere near as much in terms of action with string's and such that you dont have with CGI.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

The timespan covered by the originals couldn't be more than a couple months... the timespan covered by the prequels is huge: IMO much larger than it needed to be.

Qui Gon (sp?) is an entirely unneccesary character, for instance... and while Anakin's childhood is nice to know about, it has little bearing on the tale as a whole. The first movie should have been completely omitted, or close to it.

Now, could they have squeezed in more stuff that happens between when Anakin becomes Vader and the beginning of 4? Maybe, but it wouldn't be good stuff for a movie. Who really wants to know the mundane details of Vader's consolidation of Power? The only thing worth mentioning is the creation of the rebellion, but with no Jedi sideplot, it wouldn't really be a Star Wars film.

So you don't like movies with child actors in them? Shouldn't the plot and other aspects of the movie make it good, not just the age of the actors?

Yeah who cares about age? Sure, you may just feel bad because some kid who is two years younger than you is on a movie, but he has his problems.

I haven't seen any of the movies...

...but since my physics class discussion are more often on Star Wars or The Matrix than the real thing, it's not too hard to contribute to this topic

How did you feel about the obvious, irritating flaw in the movie? Talking about where Luke&Leia's mother is told to die of giving birth to them... in one of the later episodes, I hear( ), Luke asks Leia what she remembers about her mother, and she actually has some memories about her (e.g. that she was often sad or something). Lucas doesn't appear to remember what he put in his story..

Also there was some talk about cutting off a scene that somehow explains that empathy is the thing that allows Siths to 'return' (as the conversation steered off the normal terminology, I wasn't quite getting it any more), and this was vital information considering that Vader could 'return'. This found originally from some interview or something.

(I Hate it when all nerd tests give you half of the points on the grounds of how much you know about Star Wars... I always score too low.)

I heard that Lucas will be using the time period between 3 and 4 to make a live action Star Wars TV show sometime in the future.
