Nostalgia
I've been busy lately, but today I visited the network. And I'm thinking, it's a lot different than it was a few years ago. Remember the interactive story? The java chat system? The Dukie smoking pot?
Yeah. Don't get some of us started.

Some of that stuff was a while ago, I think before I even started posting, just when I was downloading files from the site. (October-November 2002)
Ya, havn't see Ducklord, or Deathlord, or Bin for a long while. I guess they outgrew the game. Poor sods.
Tyrsis posted recently though.

I kind of doubt Deathlord will be coming back. Bin is now Binirit, I believe.
I think Deathlord still checks in ocasionally. Maybe only once a month or two, but I coulda sworn I saw his name up on the lurkers...
I think I did... any my name... right after I'd posted... lol!
It's dethlord, without the a - You forced me to check it out :/
I saw ducklord on the lurking list for some days ago
Then still, if Bin is Binirit. Didn't see her for quite a while. **Search** Last post in May... I think she's a goner

If you try mail her, she might come back or something
I miss the interactive story, and if anything is worth resurrecting, it's that. I'm sure Dink could have some fantabulous adventures then!
And I miss bin.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and it's good to see you again my single-cell friend.

Dukie still bears the blunt.. er, brunt of the pot jokes. They're just less frequent.
Cigerettes are proven to be more deadly than pot anyhow. Pity tobbaco has enough money to buy lobbyist.

They're thinking about banning cigarette sales in my entire city. Can't say I'll be too upset, and it's not likely to happen till at least 2007.
The community started dying maybe around last year, but now it seems to be growing.
Eh, it comes and goes in waves. But some of us are here forever.
The Dn is the most active it has been in a long time. But as you say, some people vanish and never return, many just take a break... and then some of us are hooked.
Straight to the vein, baby!
Straight to the vein, baby!
you can say I am a dink freak, lets say I am at DN 24\7

vein? Bah. You should upgrade to Direct Brain Stem Hookup. ™
Behold, for here is my analysis of DN-crowdyness:
Hehum...
TDN is a busy place when lots of people have lots of free time. These times are:
Summer holiday
Christmas holiday
And of course the few weeks before and after. Now what we are experiencing now, is the member-influx due to the Christmas holiday. Now what is the reason behind this?
Well, it's simple. During these two holidays there's no such thing as school or university, and most working people get some days off too. They know nothing to do, and are bored. So... They open up their favourite browser, go to a search machine and type in: "freeware games" and eventually a genre. Now as we all know, Dink has been chosen MANY times as the best freeware game ever, and it's very likely that anyone that types in "freeware games RPG" will come across it. Now I must say I cheated a bit, but google search for "freeware RPG" (at the moment of this typing) will give this page as a top result. And you'll notice that Dink Smallwood is on the list.
This explains the newbie-influx. The old-guys/gals just return, because they remember this to be such a really cool place

Sounds like a pretty accurate theory. Some of us however, just can't leave. Ever.
