They say it's relaxing, but I've never tried.

You should know I don't, but I'll just tell it anyway, since I'm proud that I don't.

On and off. I started when I was 15, when going through some rather crappy times in my life.
Nowadays I go a few weeks without smoking, then smoke again (typically when I go out drinking). Then stop for another few weeks...

It's a dirty, crappy habit, and I wish I'd never started. Ugh...

Proud to say I'm not a smoker either. About everyone else in my family smokes though, which will probably prove to kill me in the end.

I don't have any problems with people smoking on their own in their house, but I HATE it when I'm enjoying the fresh air and they turn up and ruin it.

These days all kids seems to smoke, I'm just glad I'm not growing up in that generation.

I used to buy cig's to get breaks, cause where I worked they only allowed you to have a break if you needed to smoke. I never smoked them though, just let them burn. Other than that, I've never smoked. (Other than celebratory cigars, of course.)

i smoked my first and last cigarette the summer before 9th grade. anyone who smokes has a mental retardation which drives them to do such as far as i can figure out. why not just lick diapers and tear up your lungs with sandpaper, cough up blood and die a weak pathetic loser with a tube up your nose

haha, are you seriuous? And smoking is relaxing, it just isn't healthy. I sometimes smoke a cigarette or two when I'm drunk and someone gives them to me, but we're talking extremely rarely here: Less than 1 cigarette a month or so.

Its good to see we can all agree...the thing is it just feels bad and I also think everyone here has had a relative suffer from some drug's side effects.

I have never smoked, and I hope I'll never will. SMOKING IS A BAD THING!! I don't hate those brainwashed and unknowing smokers, but I agree with Kyle, I HATE PEOPLE COMMING AND SMOKING IN THE NATURE OR WHEN I AM TRYING TO GET SOME FRESH AIR!! And it is good to see all you people agree with me Perhaps we can write down they who does not smoke, and if they begin to smoke we flame them in a month

To those of you who have never smoked (which is most of you), then I have 2 pieces of advice.

a) Don't start. That's pretty obvious.

b) Don't take a pop at people who do, or have smoked. If you haven't been a slave to nicotine, you haven't a clue what you are talking about. I've read in numerous places how the addiction level is comparable to heroin, and that is really, really shoot.

I dont smoke, but about everyone I know does. When I got to a party my I can feel my lymphnodes swell up and try to fight off the chemicals entering my body through the second hand. Then when I wake up the next morning I usualy cough up alot of green stuff.

I have seen many of my friends become addicted to nicotine, it is sad. It usualy happens because they can't get hold of marajuana so they try cigarettes to take its place.

The addiction comes on slow starting with a few cigarettes a week. They will throw the " I only smoke if im drunk" line down then that will change to the "I only smoke a few a week" than that will change to the " I only smoke like 1 a day" and it will keep adding up.

I have been an ex-smoker for 2 years now and I can say that when I smoked I had no idea how the smell got into your clothes and hair,it's awful.DON'T EVER START!!

I totally agree with most people here: smoking is a very nasty and unhealthy habit (addication).

Even so, I smoke a pack a day and have done for years on end and have no intention of stopping.

I think it would be best to run before...everyone here tries to convice you to stop...least of all me.

A PACK a day!? That must cost like $5 a day and one days worth of your life...

I don't smoke either (It's expensive and doesn't do much good to you either).
However, I strongly doubt that shouting at people will make them realise smoking is bad and they shouldn't do it. Drawing up the "amazing threat" that smoking poses to our world is usually not the way to convince a 13-year-old. As for what is, I wouldn't know. But I know for sure that saying "It's dangerous" doesn't work.

That's the same with many of my friends. But has it not occured to you that they have become addicted to the nicotine in the tobacco that they use to smoke marijuana with, and therefore when they don't have any herb to smoke, they have a cigarette instead?

For that is the real reason, most tokers turn to smokers.

Well, I admit that I might smoke a cig when I'm drunk, because it makes the alcohol to effect faster. But otherwise smoking is definitely NOT for me! I don't hate anything as much as to see pretty girls with cigarette in their mouths

OK, I am a slave to the smoking thing. I started at age 11, thanks to my big brother. I have tried to stop many, many times, it's hard!! For those of you that have never smoked and for those that have quit - GOOD FOR YOU!!

I must say that nagging smokers about how bad it is, is a waist of time - we KNOW already! Most of us are trying to quit the best way we can - it is a STRONG addiction and should not be judged constantly. So STOP it and try to understand that we don't like to be ostrasized and made to feel like we are another race. I have been cutting down slowly on how many cigs I puff a day, someday I hope to join the non-smokers club, and I gurantee I WILL NOT judge those who continue to smoke, only support their efforts on trying to quit.

A friend and I, once smoked a pack of cigarettes when I was 16 and they cost 75 cents a pack. I quit as I thought my money could go to better use. My friend did not and still smokes a pack a day.

They say that second hand smoke is just as bad, if that is true, then I might as well have smoked, as everyone in my family (excluding my mom and first daughter) are heavy smokers. Although at $8 a pack, that is one smart thing I have done in my life.

I hope i never smoke, i dont want to get sucked into peer presure and all that, but i'd like to think i have more willpower than to smoke because one of my friends does.

only 1 of my friends smoke anyway. i hope more dont start when i'm older. but the sad thing is, they probably will.

Even after 2 years of being an ex-smoker,I still crave a cig from time to time.Especially when I get stressed out.And I probably never would have been able to quit except for being in the hospital a few weeks for a accident-related aneurysm.Nothing like a little morphine and a lot of pain to help you beat the nicotine LOL.And boy do I save money YAY!

my grandma smoked 6 (six!) packs a day until like 13 or 14 years ago when she quit, so anyone who says they cant quit, stop crying about it my grandma can kick your ass and thats sad so cut the crap and just STOP, plain and simple.
