Hello! This is my first post... I submitted for a forum account, but I am awaiting account activation.
I have played several of the DMODs. Wow! There is so much talent here!
I have a Comp Sci degree (from the 90s LOL), so I am familiar with C-based langs & scripting. I read many of the tutorials (etc) that many of you have so generously provided.
I am retired and looking for a challenge & I thought that I might give it my best effort to create a DMOD.
Besides Dink Smallwood, I loved so many of the old-school games, like Quest for Glory & King's Quest series, plus the new tribute games, Quest for Infamy & Heroine's Quest. BTW, both QFI & HQ are worth playing if you love old-school adventure games!
So... finally I get to my question! I would like to create a DMOD that is similar to the Quest for Glory series. Since I have not played ALL of the Dink DMODS, I am uncertain as to whether or not this has been done before. I *DID* do a search on this forum, but I could not find anything on point.
Here is my question: If there are QFG or KQ DMOD tributes, can someone please list what they are? I know that this is a big ask, but I do not want to attempt to re-create anything that anyone here has already done.
Many thanks for any info!

Im not aware of any, although I probably havent played every Dmod. Anyway, if someone else has tried it, don't worry about it, go ahead, the fact you aren't sure whether someone else has done it means you won't be directly copying them, how can you? I'm pretty sure people aren't to bothered here if theres more than 1 dmod that is based of similar ideas, so you should be ok to go right ahead with your dmod idea.
I don't think so either, although I've only played the King's Quest series. I need to play QfG some fine day, the weird battle system (well, weird to have in a text parser / point and click game) seems interesting.
I'm sure there are some homages in some dmods, but nothing like a big tribute or a dmod really modeled after those games.

Go forth and create! Have fun. My only preference would be that you make it Linux compatible (using a version of DinkC supported on that OS such as YeOldDink or v1.08 freedink). But hey, which version you choose to write for is entirely up to you. You can even start by finishing an unfinished dmod, if that makes it easier for you.
An introduction to dmod scripting is an essential read. For the rest, you have a nice DinkC reference on the web, the forum, and you can always download QfG and check source code for it.
If you're already familiar with C (or any language for that matter), DinkC should be a breeze, aside from a few (many, many) quirks.
Aim to make something of your own. We're all nice here, except that torch pitchfork incident from sometime ago.

You could always try searching the PDF versions of Crazy Old Tim plays all the DMODs, if anyone would have spotted this probably would've been him.
Hello! I still have a lot of DMODs left to play myself, but I don't think I heard about anything like this...
Quest For Glory is one of my favourite series, or at the very least, one that I am the most nostalgic about, being one of the first ever RPGs/adventure games I ever played!

From the many D-mods I've played, I don't think there exists such a D-mod. Unless it's unreleased. I don't know how hard it'd be to develop one - I never made a D-mod. Also, I do want to play the series one day. Just so many games I don't own or have played.
Hi there! I was a big fan of Quest for Glory back in the day and was even part of the ill-fated and fractious Hero6 project ages ago (it's very cool to see that Quest for Infamy actually finished, though I haven't played it). Can't say I know of any dmods that pay tribute to KQ or QFG, but I do know there are a few that include some adventure game-style puzzles, at least in a rudimentary way.
Actually, thinking back on it, SlipDink's Periculo Island DMOD made me think of KQ/QFG a few times... Probably the closest out of anything I've played.
