ive been into grunge/post-grunge bands since 4th grade. i grew up with that stuff. ive been into punk rock since 8th grade, and thrash/hardcore/oi/streetpunk since 9th (these are the real crazy kinds of punk/metal/grunge type music). this is the stuff i love. i like the energy and fastsness and crustiness.

but lately emo music has been getting pretty popular. like saves the day, the ataris, and the new AFI cd sounds totally emo to me. i guess even simple plan and good charlette with those sissy ass vocals. emo is like the nice clean radio happy version of punk with the exception of a few bands. like AFI, they are all baby emo now but they still freakin rock, and they have been on MTV. that is really unexpected to me. i didnt realize just how popular good charlette was gonna make that style.

but my point is that even though i like the crazy bands, i listen to this "emo" band called hot water music. it is in my opinion the most coolest band i have heard in my life. if you like any of the emo playing on the radio and MTV, go download hot water music and they will kick your ass and teach you what real music is.

also, what are some of your guys's favorite bands?

Right now I like this band called Rooney quite a bit... I'm going to their concert on Friday. It's my first concert ever. Teehee.
Um. Other than that I like Ben Folds *a lot*, Beastie Boys, the Beatles are cool... Tool... The only people I really can't stand and will not listen to are John Melloncamp and Dashboard Confessional (aka the Tonedeaf Monkeys).

I don't like 50 cent cause he's like the millionth gansta rapper, always yakking about the ice, the cars, the cash and how he's gonna kill someone. There have been too much of those guys already and they're hiphop's disease. I can understand why he's so popular though, with Dre and Eminem behind him, who can blame him..

I'm going to see Audioslave, A Perfect Circle, Queens of the Stone Age, and Jane's Addiction at Lollapalooza this summer...twice! Woo!

Post-grunge and grunge is cool, but in my opinion, emo music isn't really emo. Bright Eyes is emo. By god they are emo. Dear God I love Bright Eyes. Muwaha! I'm seeing them live this summer too.

And then I'm seeing NIRVANA this August. They're doing a new Unplugged with all new original material. I got the tickets for 27 dollars each. Woo!

"Whats so great about talking through a repeating beat over and over again? how can u consider that music? i dont get it"

Are you talking about hiphop? I think you am, so I guess I'll reply: Hiphop is more than that, in fact, hiphop is poetry, IF it's done right. Internal rhymes, metaphores, alliteration, all of these and more can be found in hiphop. But you won't find that in commercial rap, you have to dig deeper and seek out people like Mos Def, Rakim & KRS-One.

I don't really like too repetitive beats neither but atleast it's not as bad as house music.

I usually don't like bands or artists, but more just their music. However, there is one band whose music I've really fallen in love with. And that's the opera-like metal music of Nightwish! Yah, that rulez.

dude, i cant believe i forgot the cure, that band (are they a band?) kicks ass.

anyway, eattherats, they call it emo cause the vocals cry. thats how you know. otherwise its pop-punk like blink-182 except usually a little more talented. but i guess hardcore "emo" bands that try to be emo are like saves the day and at the drive in. you can feel the crying in the vocals.

but if you listen to lots of music, you see that all this is junk. all music is either good music or bad music, and its all related. if a band is talented, you cant call it any one type of music cause its original and has many different styles. thats why people call music hardcore, cause they dont know what the hell it is, (thrash, metal, grunge, punk???) when the first "hardcore" was straitedge NY skinhead music. even system of a down has parts with ska beats and emo vocals. and my brother used to claim that rancid was not a punk band. who cares? you shouldnt classify a music, and only listen to what conforms to that. come on. expand your musical interest and listen to it all.

I can write way better lyrics than that, in fact I did write a song, and I would post it, but many people wouldn't appreciate my views and I can't take the chance of someone copying it because I wouldn't have a lawyer to prosecute them. Maybe I'll post it if you all beg.

people of the world unite
put yer fist together and fight
get a chainsaw and kill yourself
thats what revolution is all about
you cant change a world you built yourself
human vs. human brings the cycle down
lower and lower, the end is doom
anything you do only causes more wounds
cause you are me, my sin, my brother
together we die and it wont get better
when you say they are wrong
you admit you are wrong
so pull out yer schlong
and let sheeps get it on
so we can spread sypholis
and we can spread aids
and we can get west nile
and we can get sars
we need mad cow
and we need the runs
as we eat helpless creatures
and we eat fruit funs
chop down all the tress
and clog the rivers with blood
actions speak louder
and ours lead to HHHHHHEEEEEELLLLLLLL
optimiism wears thin
when you open yer eyes
and see the real truth
government is aliens in disguise
the aliens have phasers
and you are most dead
a nuclear reaction
puts tumors in yer head
and disitigration
is on the rise
once I TAKE OVER
I AM YOUR MASTER
I WILL MAKE YOU ALL CRY
actually not
the enemy is YOU
the enemy is YOU

I wouldn't say you have to think punk sucks, but publicly voicing that the music you like is punk, saying "Punk rocks!" or "I'm a punk!", etc. would probably immediately reveal you to be a poser.
