The Green Voice in my Head - Part II development
well hope you make true to that promise because i so wanna test SBV hellfire out
YYYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! FINALY!! AH HA!! Dude you totally rock!!
AWESOME raven
Glad to see you bow to the pressure
Will wait with gleeful anticipation for this one

Well it's about dang Time! Looking forward to it.

It's great to see such a dedicated Dinker, that after all these years, he still decides to come back and finish his D-Mod.
EDIT: Oh, and look at that. The second screenshot has my cousins in it.

Cool, I really enjoyed part 1! Although... I never actually completed it, kept getting stuck
. I may look up a walkthrough and go back to it though, if the sequel really is coming

Yes, the hellfire is already made with the power equal to smashed barrels, but the barrel counter will be restarted in the next part, of course.
Bow for pressure, well, I have promised this before so now it should be done
Well, Dink is simple an unforgettable hero.
I like the house-buying thing you did for Historical hero, I think I will copy that to the second part.

Cool that you liked it.
On a side note, I know this is your thread, but you should probably use the "modify" button instead of replying many times. It can cause some trouble, especially with people who don't use nested views.

Made any progress, Raven? Loved the first part, but I have to admit that I never was able to finish it..

Woah, you're using MY windmill?! Thanks, dude! Wasn't expecting that!
You could take the windmills shape and turn it into a lighthouse if you wanted to. That might be cool, it could open up some new possibilities.
Well, I have made a new stackable system that don't use global variables so Dink can have a lot of ingredients for potions, which is needed for the potion making that will be important in this part, I made some puzzles, mapped ~ 250. I took the windmill and a lot of other graphics. The plan is to bring in all new graphics that has been made from dink development file section in this part.
I know the first part is too hard. I made an update of the first part but I am note sure it is bug free, so I will test it some more before I upload it.

Uhm, did you say all new graphics?
Uhm, did you say all new graphics?

That's what I'm doing too, it's very possible, though you need to plan it out
I think the more people use the dev files the more people will be inclined to create them, which is a win-win situation

All new graphics = Insanely huge file-size = Modem explodes = No internet = Less people playing Dink
Nah but seriously, if the file size doesn't become 50Gig-ish then that would be awesome. New graphics always give a DMOD more of an atmosphere, in my opinion. Stops it feeling like "Just another DMOD".

Well, I will not use each and every thing in all dev-files, but take some from each that fits the game and looks good:
The graphics folder is 140MB now.
The graphics folder is 140MB now.
Yes, I read your post about this idea before so I copied it
Actually a good idea would be to make a new graphics base folder, as the one with the original game, but rearranged to include the old and the best of the newly developed graphics. Re-write the dinkini and make sure no space is wasted. Some sequences in the dink base graphics only includes a few sprites and could be moved togheter with other sequences to save space, etc. Then add a new option in DFArc for running the DMOD with the new base graphics folder, for new DMODs that can use this folder as the base graph folder instead.

Yes, but it is 140MB, and I think I have to most I need. I have not taken everyting in all dev files, but some from each that I like.
Seriously, predator! Leave the developers alone, they can't work if you keep interrupting them!
I just uploaded an updated version of the
Reply to The Green Voice in my Head - Part I - Hangover and Agony.
version 4.0.
Changes between version 3.0 and 4.0
Total rewrite of all scripts using notepad++ with dinkC mode. This should have removed some bugs.
Changes to the game play:
The main idea of the rewrite was to assure that player can not get stuck in the game without realizing this. Now, failures either leads to Dink dying or that the player has to solve more sub-quests to get further in the story. There are no dead-ends (without dying).
The extra graphics in frame 50-70 (in lands/garden ) are moved to lands/grass, (~ frame 6-25)
because only up to 50 frames are allowed in a sequence. For some reason the dmod worked anyway
before in some versions of Dink, but not in all. The hard boxes of some sprites where also adjusted.

Cool.
I've always loved this game but I got stuck very often... have to replay it now to see the difference.

Tgvh is Hangover and Agony.what's the sequel gonna be about?
The Green Voice in my Head - Part II - The Siege
"In the end of previous part, Dink and Desert Rat traveled back to Stonebrook, just to discover that an Dark Lands army has attacked his old kingdom and laid a
siege on GoodHearts Castle. Without any hope at making it into the castle, and to get hold on the prince of Niv, Desert Rat argues that they should immediately travell back to unoccupied land. Dink agrees to follow only if they also take the injured back with them.
While Desert Rat revive the injured and prepare for a mass-warp out of Stonebrook, Dink has to fight off the invaders."

More alcohol induced voice mystery? YAY!
Are you almost finished? If not can you add camio appearances of ''some'' dinkers? *winks*
The hangover and agony in this D-Mod is too much for this site to handle, apparently.
When will it be finish
2011 2012 or 2013?

Same for me. I'll definitely give it another go with a new version.

Isn't this funny? I'm continuously returning to refresh the "Files" tab, waiting for the update to be approved so I can download it and play it. Getting this good old Dink-Smallwood-coziness-feeling.

Update for the second part.
Since finishing my research studies, I have had some free time to work on The Green Voice - part II.
I have made much progress the last weeks. But I am a bit that I have introduced to many threads in the story that must be closed in the end.
Current status:
* 317 Screens used
* 788 scripts
~ 40 puzzles / missions.
Just like in the first part, I tried to make the puzzles independent of each other.

That's... that's AWESOME. 788 scripts ... I don't think even the original game has that many!

I'm eagerly waiting.

i just played through part 1 AGAIN.
Seriously Raven, do you actually WORK at a game design company?
Like... bungie?...
BLIZZARD!!???
TGV was my favourite dmod ever! I cant wait for no. 2!!

@Raven
Yours was a unique story line with lots of interesting story elements. Ideas like forcing the player to buy the story intro, smashing ming vases (and let's not forget the SBV!) were a lot of fun! Your creativity should not be limited to Part I when Part II was already in development!

Well, what would it take to get you to finish it? Is there anything we can do to get you back on track or at least get you to clean things up in it a bit and release it as unfinished? Maybe someone else will finish it if you won't.

Where oh where are you Raven? We need part 2!
this is very sad indeed
I had a voice in my head once... but it had no color.
Too bad I wasn't a Synesthete.

TGVIMH was hands down one of the best d-mods ever made. Would really love to see part II. Anyone who has Raven's Contact, could atleast let him tell the story line so someone else could make it? Would be nice.

It would be even better (assuming anyone could successfully contact him) if he would upload an unfinished dmod that represents how far he has gotten with this project. Although I'm currently working on my own (small quest to romp sized?) dmod now, I'd be very pleased to take it on as my next effort and give it the same treatment I gave to SabreTrout's Valhalla, assuming that he (and others) would want me to do so.

It is a special kind of laziness you are talking about when you confess you are too lazy to just finish a silly game!

not just a silly game
this is probably one of the hardest and most rewarding of silly games
I was sick for a week and had to lie in bed for a few days. those days i could not move my head without it bursting into pain, and i could not move my body without my bones feeling like powder.
during that week i finished TGVIMH

Has anyone tried ravenravenous2003@yahoo.se ?
Nope, gonna try that. But the new Dmod - A tale of 4 sorrows- seems exciting! and might be a pretty good alternative to TGVIMH.
Sure!
play it!
and tell me what you think
play it!
and tell me what you think
TGV has always had a special place in my heart for some reason.
I'm also still waiting.

I'm waiting too! Wherefore art thou Raven?
