Trying to make d-mods a bit more organic is one thing - NPC's going about their lives, villages changing as time goes on, essentially making it seem that the world isn't static. Trying to inject some 'life' into the game, as it were.
Including soil erosion in a d-mod is ridiculous, unless it's integral to the plot. Which I find fairly unlikely.
