GNU FreeDink is a portable version of the Dink engine, which can run the original game as well as its dmods properly and with close compatibility to Dink Smallwood v1.08 on modern Windows operating systems, as well as on Linux, among others. A version of Dinkedit (FreeDinkedit) is also included, which can be used to create dmod maps. FreeDink can also play .ogg music files.
INSTALLING FREEDINK ON WINDOWS
1) You can download GNU FreeDink installer, which comes with FreeDink, FreeDinkedit, DFArc3, translations, as well as music and sounds compatible with the GNU general public licence, which FreeDink uses.
Downsides: Some sounds and music are missing, and some are different from the ones used in Original Dink.
2) Download and install Dink Smallwood v1.08 (aka Original Dink)
Download GNU FreeDink, and extract in the same location as Dink Smallwood v1.08.
Open DFArc.exe, and in Edit -> Options, point it to use freedink.exe instead of dink.exe.
