I like JRPGs. I'll admit a lot of them suck lately, though. Final Fantasy, for example, hasn't had a good installment since 2000.

Final Fantasy 9 was definitely amazing (released in 2000), I would even argue it's the best Final Fantasy. But I think Final Fantasy 10 deserves some credit, it was different and certainly more linear than most RPGs, but it managed to do it right (at least in my opinion). The story and characters kept me hooked, and battles were turn-based but very well made for turn-based. I think Final Fantasy 13 was good, but kind of like a less well made version of FF 10. For me FF 12 was one of those games that seemed like it was trying extremely hard to be good, but tripped on a banana peel and fell flat on it's face along the way. So many good ideas but a game that isn't engaging in the long run. As for FF 11 and 14, I shall not speak of those.
