Perhaps many of you have or haven't heard of the mass protests that occurred in many parts of the world on February 10th. You see many "anonymous" people from the massive, old entertainment site 4Chan were deeply offended when the Church of Scientology censored the internet by forcing youtube to remove a controversial video of an interview with Tom Cruise about his religion. Since most "anonymous" are avid internet users they felt this was a crime against humanity (mainly since they liked laughing at the video) and organized a worldwide protest.

I for one am against the idea of protesting just to be against someones belief. I would hate for what happened then to happen to my Church now. However...I know quite a bit about the CoS and as much as I feel hateful and bigoted to say it I do believe they are a criminal organisation masquerading as a religion to protect themselves. Supposedly you can't be a member unless you pay huge fees to gain prominence in the church and also that they openly threaten anyone who attempts to leave.

Whether you hate them for how they operate or think they are mistreated for how they are portrayed here is some info on what happened;

A blog of the London protests.

At one protest site the church positioned a retro-fitted ice cream truck to monitor the crowd through a one way mirror.

There are a huge amount of videos on youtube of the protests. You can see one here.

In total there were more than 7,000 people at over 90 areas protesting. I'm amazed not only that stuff like this can be arranged over the internet, but through anonymous sites like 4chan. It shows that the internet can be a powerful tool in organization perhaps the most considering it works the world over.

I suspect that now they've ended up on the news many more people will go to the next rally in March.

Sincerely,

It rubs the lotion on its skin...

Being threatened if you attempt to leave? And trust me, buying a your church a new wing, paying for renovations, or buying the church a new bell will get your name on something somewhere.

Daniel, there are clowns.
I'm not too surprised with any random person's religious views anymore, but that was some actually creepy shoot there, Vortex.

OMG

I've seen alot of bad and bizzare things done in faith, but that is beyond terrible. Even hinting that the murder of heritics as a good thing is wrong. Fortunately some people did argue against that "doctor" though he defended his position.

I can only feel better in what one person said "Any admission of faith made during torture shouldn't be held truthful to God since it wasn't made by the persons own choice, but by the pain inflicted by others." In my own words I mean.

Sincerely,

I'm a man, but I can change, if I have to.I guess.
There's no protest against anyones religion, the protests Anon carried out were against the church itself. There is a fairly convincing argument going around that paints the church as a ponzi scheme. I'm too tipsy (go Tuesday Keggers!, Sigh.) to fully explain it, but the basic jist is,

Any other religion, when you ask to learn about them, will tell you about them, and give you their holy books, etc.
When you ask the COS about their religion, they start asking for cheques. They are the only church that can have their members pay tax-deducted 'training' courses: such things for other religions are *not* tax-deductible. (at least in the US)

They also victimize people, for real and imagined failures, aka, not believing in Xenu when you are a high enough OT level, etc, etc. This isn't a fault of them not teaching you properly, this is YOUR fault, and it IS a fault. You get worse and worse treatment by the organization, where you basically get people living with a horrible case of Stockholm's syndrome. And then theirs Sea Org, and yeah. Basically the only ones who get anything out of it, are people near the top. And they get money.

That's what anon hates. Anon is trying to save the scientologists, from themselves.

Look up operation clambake, and read the wiki on it for a short idea of what Anon is trying to do with this.
