In order to make up for the fact that I have no luck with most deadlines...
I will send a .d decompiler to anyone who asks for it. redink1 and Mike Snyder might not like this, but it's not like I'm asking them to host it.
EDIT : Oh, and I made it myself, mind you.
EDIT 2 : I can't seem to be able to access my PM board right now, so should you be interested, be sure to either reply in this thread or e-mail me.

a decompiler, hey? sounds interesting...
Whoops. Christiaan, it seems your e-mail address doesn't like me.

EDIT : Very odd indeed. You can e-mail Blackguard and ask him for the decomp.zip file I sent him instead.

I'll try one. Sometimes those .d files make me mad......

WTF?
I've just tried again with the previous e-mail address, and it apparently worked. Phew.
I know that some email services (eg. gmail) won't let you send .exe files because of security risks, so that could be the problem.
Did everyone forget about the .d decompiler that comes with UnDink?
Did DaVince forget that the only decompiler in UnDink is a ff decompiler that doesn't fully work?
Probably.
I'm sure I had a .d decompiler though.
Well, if you don't have it anymore, I could send you mine (provided you have a non-gmail address; Sparrowhawk seems to be right about gmail not allowing executables).
Executables? That's easy, just send out 7zip files containing the executables.
I don't really have much interest, though.

Well, whaddya know. It actually works. Thanks, I was able to send the D decompiler to someone who has a gmail address.
At any rate, should you need it in the future, let me know.

After carefully thinking about it for approximately 19 years, I have decided to release an "improved" version. No source code this time, sorry. Use at your own risk, but it seems to work fine.
64-bit Windows binary (decomp.exe) and 64-bit Linux binary (decomp) here : Link
I have included a batch file and a bash script. On Windows, place the batch file (d2c.bat) inside the same folder as decomp.exe and your .d files and run it. On Linux, place the bash script (d2c.sh) inside the same folder as decomp and your .d files and run it.
decomp.exe also works with WINE, but on Linux I highly recommend using the native Linux version.
32-bit binaries can be made available upon request, if for some obscure reason you need to run this on an old computer.
All feedback is welcome.

It's a bit late now. WinDinkEdit2+ has had a decompressor in it for quite some time now.
Ouch. Feedback accepted.
I've just tested the WinDinkEdit2+ way and it works surprisingly well even on Linux with WINE, even though my way is probably still slightly faster if you want to decompress scripts from many D-Mods, particularly if you are using several WINE/Lutris prefixes on Linux for different versions of Dink. I will probably continue to make this zip file available for some time, just in case; but it's true that it is no longer as useful as it might have been.

I also wrote my own in Python3(.4) at some point. It will do an entire Story collection in one hit, but it won't recursive glob, and has no error correction for Creeping Sands etc.
Mine is the same... It did succeed in unpacking start-4.d, unlike the decompresser mentioned in this thread, and WinDinkEdit2+ also succeeded in unpacking this file, but the "strange characters being inserted in the c files" thing is still present.
Interestingly enough, when I unpack the latest version of The Creeping Sands (which only has the .c files) with Ark, it works fine. When I unpack v0.6 (which has the .d files), I get a "this archive is corrupt" error. But maybe this could also be due to an old version of the .dmod format that Ark might be struggling with ?

Usually bsdtar can unpack them without having to add 1024 bytes to the bare Tar.
