Joshriot's on staff. Hell has officially frozen over. Not to imply that I'm uncomfortable with him there; we get along like chocolate and bacon. That is, rather swell.

Yeah, most of the important news has been stickied, and then there's the Failure D-mod contest, which has quite a few people claiming that they're contributing. I thought about doing it too, but then, I said... "Hey, I'm lazy, dammit! I shouldn't be doing that!"
yes what is PPP i do not know of this poo plux plan? is it a dmod? anyway tal is doing something with rubbing chocolate on bacon and that creeps me out just a little i dont want to be in the same room as him
By the way, about the contest. I forgot to ask something: I know it's not legal to use portion of the map from other DMODs, but is there legal to use a portion of the original game's map(my story starts there)?
I shouldn't see why not, the rules/guidelines are there, so if it doesn't say anything about it there shouldn't be any reason why not. Tons of other DMODs are set within the original Dink world.

Anyway... yes, using a portion of the original map should be ok. But it shouldn't make up the majority of the map screens. You said the story starts there, so you should be fine.

Chocolate with bacon is a very strong aphrodisiac. I mean uhh..I 'heard' chocolate and bacon make me...wait,oh screw it... 
i just see it this way: do whatever you want to make a good game. if you use the dink map instead of making your own and just add in a few of your monsters the voters are going to know you are full of shoot but if you are using it as a tool for story or whatever to make a good game you are on the right track reguardless of what the technicalities are, i think they are more like guidelines. they are there to try and prevent people from doing something totally unoriginal or that has nothing to do with what the point of the contest is about. its to make an ORIGINAL game for the contest not taking other peoples games or one of your old games and having it based on the failure theme. thats all there is to it

Oh yeah, and PPP is a dmod in the making... there was a blog about it a while back... if you can be bothered searching for it. Its being made as a gift for someone... but I think I may just release it afterwards... if I have the time to de-personalise it... and if there's any interest. Can't provide too much info, don't want to let the cat out of the bag!
