New Dev Music: MP3 Mayhem
Mr. Riot has released a few songs in some sort of weird 'empeethree' format. MP3 Mayhem apparently seeks to give D-Mod developers interested in Dink Smallwood Aural+ some free tunes to play with. This 12MB file contains just under 13 minutes of high-quality tunes, so check it out.
Woot! It happened. Josh really wasn't kidding.
EDIT: These are actually pretty good.

Kool, Josh has a B.C.Rich Kerry King signature special guitar. I've always wanted one of those. Slaaaaayyyyyeeerrrr!
Really cool tracks, though some of them suffer from a severe case of digital distortion. I guess that could be intentional too?!

haha i bought that guitar off some punk chick because she doesnt like that kind of music anymore. paid 20 bucks for it, not kidding.
oh and what kind of distortion are you talking about? this could be a problem?
You've rendered the tracks together with too much volume. The dynamic range can't handle it and thus, distortion! Just open up, for example, taylor2.mp3 with Goldwave and see for yourself. The waveform peaks are "constantly hitting the ceiling", if you see what I mean. It is considered a problem as it sounds all distorted and... bad.
WTF, 20 bucks for that guitar! I'd call that a blasphemy

whoa, i just looked it up on the bc rich page here it says list price $1,287.00 (although im sure this is just what they (bc rich) say to make the guitar more desireable but it is really sold for less), so yeah i paid $20 for it.
anyway i see exactly what youre saying in goldwave i turned the master volume down to fix this and so look for a version 2.0 that fixes this problem and MAYBE with a "been shot down" also

The guitar you looked at was probably the more expensive version. The special KKV is much cheaper than that, and doesn't have a double-locking floating tremolo. And the pickups are probably different. I'm not sure though, but as I'm aware, there are two versions of the KKV.
Josh, you could render the tracks with less volume, and then normalize it in GoldWave. That's what I always do when multitracking, as you don't have to keep your eye fixed on the VU meter of your multitrack program on the mixdown. Try to keep the highest peak volume a bit under 0 dB when mastering so it won't clip.
I looooove compressors.

whats the point of normalize? i dont know what any of these means but ok
Normalizing increases the volume that it's as loud as possible without clipping. In GoldWave that can be done with the "maximize" (the icon has a volume knob with a exclamation mark next to it). Pick the "Full dynamic range" from the preset menu and hit OK.
Note that this works the best when done to the already mixed tracks. Render a complete wavefile of the song from your multitrack program and then normalize it in GoldWave. It works only if the volume of the song is not too high already.
