Music volume

Hello Dinkers, an old Dinker here, and this is my first post.

I have a question about music volume. Is there any way to increase the volume of music in the game?

A looong time ago, about maybe 2+ years ago, I didn't have a problem with this, the sound and music were of the same volume or close to equal. But now, when I play Dink or any dmod, the sound is normal, but the music volume is waaaay low, actually, at the master volume I setted, the sounds are kind of loud, music is barely hearable. I don't think it's the music that would be the problem, I remember the Milder theme (where Milder mocks Dink in the original Dink when he feeds the pigs) was rather loud, but now I can barely hear it (being the loudest, I at least know that music still play and weren't turned off, which happened way back then as well ).

Is there any way to adjust music volume?

Thank you in advance.

Try adjusting the 'Wav' and 'SW Synth' volumes?

Start -> programs -> accessories -> entertainment -> volume control

add:

'SW Synth' would be for the music.
'Wav' would be for sound effects.

Ahhh, thanks again! It worked!

I didn't know the SW Synth volume setting was used for anything.

Yup, it controls the volume of midi playback.

Yea, it seems it's affected only in-game, though, changing the SW Synth doesn't seem to change much of any midi played outside of the game.

Huh... that's pretty strange.

Ok, I have another problem.

The volume for the music is solved, but now what's happening is that the midi sometimes freezes or stops/pauses. Oddly, the only way to get the music to continue playing is by either loading a saved game (where the save bot is in an area that plays music) and (if that doesn't work) I play some random .midi file on a player like Winamp (midis sometimes freeze there as well as take a while to start playing then plays silently first time).

Alt-M will toggle music on-and-off, try seeing if that helps.

I occasionally get the problem too where the music wont play then I play a midi in a music player and it starts working again in Dink.

That's because most sound cards (except the really quality ones) can't play more than one MIDI file at once.

Btw, I always got the MIDI stop problem when switching to another program or minimalizing Dink. Didn't test that in 1.08 though.

For some odd reason, to kind of solve the problem, I kept my Winamp on, not playing anything, just kept it open. It doesn't work sometimes but most of the time it does. Whenever the midi suddenly stops or freezes, it continues to play once again after a few seconds (continuing from where it would be after the few seconds pass, not from where it stopped).
