Contributions anyone? PPP...
Well well well... PPP is coming along very nicely, and I still hope to be ready for beta-testing in a few weeks... although with James's arrival it may be a little longer. I asked previously for lines of poetry that people particularly liked, and have integrated some of the ideas of Joycielaanie and Carrie into PPP already.
What I would like now...
1. Some more suggestions of poetry. I have lots already, but I'd like it to be more of a combined effort, so if I eventually release the d-mod people can see their contributions as they play. (Or try to find them at least)... just a line or two is perfect, along with the name of the poem and its author.
2. Opinions... particularly with regard to what's important in a d-mod... puzzles? riddles? fighting? A big scary boss? Dialogue? I'd like to make PPP as enjoyable as possible... but my opinion of what makes a good d-mod may not be shared by the Dink Community. There isn't a lot of compulsory fighting so far in PPP, but I may change that if public opinion deems it necessary.
3. And finally, a show of interest. I know I haven't been very forthcoming with telling you all what this d-mod is about, but are any of you interested? (I ask because I may not release it publicly unless there is some interest, seeing as it was originally a gift)
4. Anything else you feel is worth mentioning.
Thanks in advance,
Ice.

What makes a D-Mod really good is a good strong monster fight that is a good challenge and doable. If the monster would be too hard at the point in the game, no one would like it. Like if you battled Seth at too low a level and too early in the game, you get killed in a matter of seconds. Thats why he's last. Because he's tough but at higher levels, easily beatable. I speak words of wisdom, Let it Be. lol (Beatles song)
Lots of monster fights would be a good idea. Riddles would be a good idea too. Some mild humor would be great.
Good luck, can't wait until PPP comes out!

What's important in a DMOD, that's a hard (and very debatable) one.
- Balance, make sure the thing is well balanced
- Good dialogue, not too long, not too short, not too boring and not too straightforward it has too feel both natural and fantasy-like. (having said that, I'm pretty bad at making dialogues)
- Alternate fighting and puzzling. Puzzling can be fun, but when you're stuck one or two times a long puzzling part can become boring. Combining fighting and puzzling is ideal, though quite hard.
- An endboss is like the grand finale of a DMOD, if the DMOD isn't oriented at fighting a lot then the endboss shouldn't be too hard. It's a matter of making the endboss feel like it's coherent with the rest of the DMOD.
Sorry if I don't sound very interested, that's because I haven't got a clue what to expect... But with the lack of DMODs being released recently a new DMOD would be more then welcome!

What's important in a D-Mod?. well firstly, I'd like to second the request for balance. Secondly, I'd love to see sidequest. Mini-games would be nice too. Good dialogue. Not too much, though. Decent difficulty (not too hard, not too easy).
As for interest, I'd love to see a new D-Mod.

Things I like to see in a dmod:
1.No bugs.
2.Buglessness.
3.A lack of bugs.
4.All the tiles line up right.
5.Scripted objects.

Well well well, I'm striving for all of those things MiloBones, but we'll see, my map's pretty clumsy... (although perhaps being too hard on myself? We'll see). Thanks everybody... I know some of you prefer fighting d-mods over puzzlers and vice versa... I'm one of the latter, but I'll try. Any other suggestions?
EDIT: And I'm really glad to see that there's some interest! Yaay!

I think metatarasal has made a couple of very astute observations.
Also, it depends, I think, to a large extent on what you like. I'm not much of a fighter, myself ("I'm a lover, not a fighter"), but I do enjoy puzzles, side-quests and stuff like that. Everything that brings a sense of accomplishment, in the end.
In the end, I think that what constitutes a good dmod should be determined by you, Ice, as the author. Since you cannot please everybody, at least please yourself and James, since he's to be the recipient of the dmod. All the rest of us in the community are just glad to ride along and have fun with this fruit of your love!

Lately, my joking posts have been deleted. I'm starting to get pissed.
Maybe it's because you post in every possible thread, post whore. Take it easy.

Since I'm pretty sure a lot of members here can read deleted posts, it doesn't really matter.
... Does it?
... Does it?
Well, before they are deleted anyway...
