I am unable to complete story four due to the lack of red rocks. But I can by not saving the girl move on to story five. My question is, at a point later in the game, can I go back if I acquire more red rocks to save her? If not, will I be able to complete the game without the fourth stone? Thanks.

You will be able to complete the game without the fourth stone (it'll be harder). You cannot go back from later in the game.
