There is a box that keeps popping up wanting to know my user name and password. I enter it, box goes away, box comes back, repeat. What's going on?

Um... TDN will never have a pop-up box that tells you to login your username/passwords. It sounds like an unscrupulous ad is doing bad things. Change your password.

Ah, no...
It has happened to me before too... stay calm, it isn't a spyware pop-up (?).
It's only an annoying dialog box that comes up telling you to write your username and password of your connection server, not the one of TDN.

But still, you should ignore it.

I believe its happened to at least both desertgrl and Merlin only on The Dink Network, so I'm pretty sure it isn't a connection diffculty.

And I'm using Mozilla. It must be more secure than Internet Exploiter because IE doesn't show it.

DO NOT ENTER ANYTHING IN THAT BOX.
It's probably a scheme to get your username and password. As for me... I use Crazy Browser and it has a built in popup killer... heh heh.

I have a pop-up and ad blocker on my firewall. Some still get through but not too many.

Uhm, you both realize that it will come up anyway? It's an authentication dialog, not a pop-up.

One of the Gamespy techs said the problem was fixed yesterday around 3:30 pm PST.

Why does everyone else get the scary dialog box that might be able to crash the whole internet, and all I get is a box saying I need to update me IE...its not fair...

Anyone who knows how to program can make one. The hard part would make it so that it's impossible to stop using Antivirus programs. That's the hard part, basically. Not that I've ever made one.

your so giving redink, the tru spirit of the holidays. Only if everyone was willing to send viruses to each others computers the world would truly be a better place...

Anyway, I did have a program that worked with CChat I think that would boot people off or freeze their computer, which ever you perfered... would that count as a virus...god that brought back bad memories of cchat..

Merlin, it did keep coming up over and over and over, and again and again, time after time and time after time, once more and once more, and time and time again. Drove me bananas! Redink would've enjoyed it.
So really, what was that sucker and why did it happen. An authentication request? Is it the computer that loses data or something else?

wouldn't as in "we know a dirty secret but aren't telling" or couldn't as in "don't know why it happens".

I remember that this happened at least once before. Could it be someone trying to scavenge info from accounts?
