I am stuck in the dungeon under the library; I did punch the dragons in the right order, y-r-c-x. Yet nothing happens to the fountain? The x is also green when i punch it while the others are blue??? So frustrated lol

Hmm, is it because I got the ogre tear from the skull first?

No, that dragon statue puzzle is just broken. Just keep hitting them and eventually they'll work I guess.

Tried it, but it doesn't work at all. X remains green and no matter how many times I repeat it, nothing happened. Any more advice?

Maybe just remove the ogre statue in the editor.

Hi Skurn, thanks for trying to help me! But the thing is, I'm not as good at this kind of game as you all are. I don't know where the editor is, or how to remove it if so. Could you give me instructions on that? Thanks again!

Editor

Then just find the ogre statue in the map, click it and press delete and save. Not sure if it'll break anything, but I'm not sure what else there is.

Then there's this thread where both Sabre and Arik claim that the statue puzzle works correctly.

...clearly, it doesn't since this and that thread exist and I also have had issues with it despite hitting them in the proper order.

If you're playing on Dink Smallwood v1.08 or FreeDink, while you have the dmod list open, go to Edit -> Options and X the "Show developer buttons" checkbox. That should make a big 'Edit' button show up, which runs the editor included with the game. Using the editor should be pretty starightforward; you can hit space so that it draws the map of the dmod, then just look for the right screen and delete the sprite that's blocking your way.

Alternatively, if you send a save game through to my email address (notext@gmail.com) and let me know a) the version number of CC2 and b) the version of Dink Smallwood you are playing with I can take a look and see if I can reproduce it. I'd like to fix this if there's a way of reproducing the issue. I have just given it a try and it doesn't appear to be broken in Dink 1.08 CC2 version 1.01, but I'm not ruling out the possibility that there are issues that could be caused by other game circumstances. I wouldn't necessarily recommend editing the game to get past the statue - I don't know if anything else is likely to break if you do so - but if other users have done so without issue it might be OK.

Also bear in mind the following:

- Hitting a statue twice will cause the puzzle to reset - your will need to start again from the first statue. This includes hitting the last statue - if you hit Y, R, C, X and then X again without going to the fountain then the key will be hidden.
- The colour of the X isn't intentional, but isn't a problem either. It doesn't indicate that the puzzle is solved or unsolved or anything like that.
- The sound effect that plays when you hit the correct statue is different to the one that plays when you hit an incorrect one. This should give you an indication of the progress you have made when solving the puzzle.
- The order of the statues should be bottom left, bottom right, top left, top right. If the letters are appearing in the incorrect place, let me know. (I could have sworn I saw the letters in the wrong place when watching someone stream CC2 once, but when I looked and when I look now they all appear correct)
- The puzzle is solved by hitting the statues, not by talking to them.
- Aside from the sound effect, you won't be able to see whether you have solved the puzzle until you return to the room with the fountain.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I'll try all the said strategies when I have time. And btw @Arik I am only clicking it once, but nothing happens, and the letter of the x statue is green.

Oh, it's by hitting the statues? Didn't realize that! However, nothing happens when I hit them! I did do the right order, bL bR tL tR but absolutely nothing happens when I press cntrl against them. My fists are pummeling away, nothing happens

Yep I did that, I know i won't see progress till i go back to the fountain. I only see the letters when i press space and talk to them, strange, isnt it?

Yeah, it's by hitting them - no letters will display when you hit them, that's fine. A couple more quirks/things to note:

- The first statue does not make sound effects to indicate you have got things right or wrong.
- Statues R and C will make a fireball/selection sound effect on hit if you get it in the right order, and make a dragon sound effect if you get it wrong. The dragon sound effect is more obvious - if you hear that, you need to go back and hit Y to start again.
- Statue X will also make a dragon sound effect if you don't hit it last in the sequence. If you hit it last then a secret found sound effect will play - if you return to the fountain after this (without hitting the statues again) then the hidden niche in the fountain will appear.
- If you start hitting statues in the correct order, then hit the first one (Y) again, you will be back to step 0 and need to hit Y again to start the puzzle over. This will happen if you hit the first statue (Y) twice when you start the puzzle! This might be the root of the issue.

I hope this helps!

(I might release a small change in the future so that sound effects play on the first statue and so that hitting it twice puts you back to step 1 rather than step 0. I might also make it so you can't unsolve the puzzle after solving it - I don't think that's an issue people are having, but it's possible to create an inconsequential bug where the fountain temporarily disappears, so that'd be nice to not worry about.)

Oh my god! Thank you so much for your time, guys Especially Arik, I really appreciate how open you are to listening to my complaints. Yeah, it finally worked this time, though strangely, only when I opened the sound. I think it probably was my computer's problem though, nothing to do the game.
