New Greasemonkey/Scriptish Script: Multiple board user ignorer!
This is a quick and dirty script I have written in the last 30 minutes that allows you to hide threads on this forum started by a specific user of your choosing (yes, you have to edit it yourself). Currently it's set to DinkDoodler as an example, but it could be set to Predator to hide his threads, or even me if you like (but then you won't get updates).
It only hides threads right now, not posts in threads by others, and it only works for one user at a time. Should work in Chrome, but I haven't tested.
Credits go to Dinkulum. I reused a bit of his code (sorry).
Click to install!
Update in 0.2
Works with posts in threads.
Default user is Predator.
Put the name search pattern at the top for blind people.
Seems to have issues with modifying posts now though.
New in 0.3
Fixed that post modification thing
Multiple user support! Yay! Look at the source again to see how it works

My own personal ban tool!! Thank you for this, adapted it to Predator of course and am already enjoying the forum a lot loooot more again.
Now if it could be extended to also hide regular posts from the person it would be perfect.

I don't think I'm a use it. Predator really doesn't bother me THAT much. Nice job, anyhow.
Thanks, yeoldetoast! I don't usually use ignore features on forums, but I'm glad this is available now. I'd been thinking of writing one to hide posts inside a thread, but I hadn't thought about threads started by the person. I think there's a way to let the user save preferences without editing the script, but I haven't investigated that very far. I did find this page though.
How do you change the target blocker, so I can hide Preddy's threads, and not DD?
Tested, it works in Chrome. Are you using Firefox or Chrome, Skorn?
EDIT: Testing the modify issues.
EDIT: Testing the modify issues.
I have updated it now, but I don't think I will implement user storage. I'm a terrible programmer, plus it doesn't make that much difference in the long run.
Multiple user blocking may come eventually. Maybe.

If you modify a post where you've typed the blocked users name it will blank and hide the edit box.
It's trivial to fix, but I found it out after I uploaded.

I need to figure out how to switch the target of this script so I can block Predator instead of Dink Doodler.

Nevermind, saw the update.

Skorn, come to chat and I can help you out.
Toast also edited it. But it's nice to know anyway.

Completely amazing. Now we can all ignore Preddy and he's too stupid to know what we've done. Maybe he'll leave soon.
Haha, you guys could always just ignore those people. But whatever works for you.
I doubt it, I suspect someone will come along and take his place.
It's inevitable.
It's inevitable.
You can't make yourself invisible, buddy, no matter how hard you try.
I needs more space for more users, 3 just doesn't seem to be cutting it Whats with these idiots lately *sighs*
That's like half the DN msdink are you sure.
If you can't figure out how to edit it yourself, there's a fair chance it's designed to filter you out.
Are you saying that people who don't know JavaScript are likely to be spammers or flamers?
I'm editing mine to ignore everybody except the people in my (empty) list, and then I'll think about adding one or two.
Toast that's cutting to the chace don't you think.
How do I use it?
I can't believe a script like this is even necessary.
Nice work nonetheless. I won't be using it.

Agreed.
Agreed.
How many of you are using it on me?
If you can read this, tell me who the two are.
If you cant, well, your choice.

Dinkulum, if you're using it it everyone, why are you replying to threads and posts you cannot see?
I am only using it on one and the forums have become peaceful again for me
@ Godley , it is a bit small so not sure I can see that hehe
Edit = wassat Absolution - Dinkulum... DINKULUM... is he still here??

I'm going to block inactive users for some reason.
I am using it on DinkDoodler and Predator.
I turned off GM for a little bit and I couldn't believe how terrible the main board is. What's worse was that predator's threads had more than 50 replies...
Different courses for different horses I suppose.

Not smart toast Pred will see that and ramble about it and were stuck with it .
But it won't matter because... dun Dun DUN!
I have him filtered out!

It seems that every time you think of something, you feel the need to post about it on this board no matter how irrelevant it is. A few days ago you posted 26 times in one day.
You've posted more in a day than what I have posted this ENTIRE MONTH so far.

Your fault for being largely inactive, and please point out one post of spamming/flaming in the 26 posts I did (which I didn't). Bahahaha, yeoldetoast loses.
If you post 26 messages in one day, you ought to consider how much each post actually contributes. Useless posts, especially in bulk (and combined with potentially *useful* posts) *will* annoy some people. Take care in creating every single thread and reply you make, and people won't feel the (apparent) need to start ignoring others...
The 26 posts (I doubt they were that much) were responses to other people's posts, and I see nothing wrong with that. I made a thread about the .gif file so that people could share more New Vision Tech .gifs if they found them, or friend me on GameSpot. If I posted it in a thread there would be this: Hey, this has no relevance to the topic. Get out!
I've been on this site for a long time and I don't understand why suddenly now, everyone is all "don't post non-useful posts". This site has always had non-topic, silly and completely useless threads and will always have. Nobody's ever complained about it before. Ignore him if you don't like his posts all of a sudden. At least now he's not posting rampage spam threads. If you can't take the heat, take your balls off the frying pan.
And just to make it clear, without these useless posts throughout TDN's history, this site would have always been 70% more inactive, which means it would now be dead.

DinkDoodler: all good to me, then!
Skull: sorry, maybe it's just me! I've always been used to seeing people at least remotely staying on topic. Some forums have incredibly strict rules, others have people that have proper etiquette to know they shouldn't derail too much anyway, and yet others (like TDN) is just an "everything goes" thing, I guess!
Still, when you see a thread title, you expect the thread to be about that...

The Dinknetwork has always had many off-topic discussions. But the amount of non-topic discussions is definitely relatively new, and not something positive at all.
If you can't take the heat, take your balls off the frying pan. Haha! Love it
Also, regarding TDN and off-topicness + DaVince's comment

I don't think the amount of off-topicness has increased that much nor has it effected the board negatively. Nor have the more serious conversations/arguements. However, the amount of flaming and spamming is a completely different thing.

I don't mind useless threads, I just can't stand doodle's awful self entitlement that makes him feel the need to treat this site as if it's his personal blog.

I'd say this is pretty much everyone's personal blog. If you feel offended that someone likes to tell us how happy he is etc etc, you might want to reconsider your negative attitude.

Did someone say something? I can't read these posts.
Just kidding, I'm not using it on anyone. But I did make a new script that filters out everyone except those on my list. I'm just not using it ... today. Sometimes I get mad at one person and feel like taking it out on everybody by ignoring them all for a while.

I don't need to. I can just filter them!
