Save your money for Lightsword!
Lightsword is 4,000 I think. The herb boots are the best thing until then.
They say you need fancy weapons, but I finished the game in four hours with a shoot sword and bow, I had bow lore but not a good bow (I didn't use it anyway) and I think hellfire. You really need hellfire magic.
Na, you could punch your way through the whole game easily.

More magic points will make it recharge faster. It's slow to load but powerful 
Save your money for firebow.
You only need a crappy bow to show to the goblins, bows actually serve little importance in the boss fight. Seriously, an intermediate sword and hellfire is all you need. no, not hell7fire1, just good ol' hellfire, just like mum makes.
You have to talk to the bow maker before you finish the game, otherwise he doesn't ever make it. Or at least he didn't for me.
I finished the game in 26 minutes (from start) with herb boots, lightsword and hellfire bought along the way. My sister timed me!
Well, record it on video and do it again. There is already one speedrun of Dink Smallwood in existence, at 49 minutes.
