so, call me whatever you will, but I like my heroines (as in female hero, not the drug) to look a little more capable than the current options, and certainly better animated. I'm also incredibly lazy and cheap; so while I posses the skills necessary to create said sprites, I lack the drive and motivation necessary to do so. So, my question/request/proposition, etc. is you guys/girls can make sprites (at least some of you can, right?) that reflect a more progressive viewpoint than the "helpless fluffy-skirt-wearing weak maiden" stereotype found in the majority of Dinkworld. I know, you love my idea here, don't you?
Ok, so I know the idea kinda sucks, but hey, I don't feel motivated enough to download software and spend time making beautiful female figures for us all.

Anyway, I think you're overestimating the community right now. Not many people here are capable of making good quality sprites, and making good quality human sprites hasn't ever been done that I know of. (Well except maybe a rip-off or something, I'm not sure...) SimonK was working on a blender version of Dink, but other than that I fear not a lot of new sprites like this will be made.

Still, one may always hope. Or ask.

You'll have to make them yourself. Acquire a copy of Poser and give it a go.

But as far as sprites go- while I do have the artistic ability, I somewhat lack in the programming experience field. All I have experience with is 3D rendering, game editors, and basic flash animation. And my computer isn't doing too well with flash at the moment (I don't know why, but thats a separate issue). Anyone know how to make sprites? And willing to teach us? Or am I just the odd duck here (in more than one way)

Wait a moment... it says poser is 3D graphics and I'm pretty certain that Dink is 2D. I could be wrong about that, but a year ago in the Art Institute 2D was flat stuff and 3D was, well 3D. So how am I supposed to make Sprites for a 2D game with a 3D development program?

make it in 3d then moving in smallish increments take a photo/screen dump and use the photos not the 3d model to import into Dink )
EDIT: The quality doesn't have to be too good cause theyre so small... and save as bmp cause that's what dink uses

Argetva: MsDinkAlot's given you the right direction for making a Dink Sprite I think, but there are some rescources availabe for this sort of thing under the Development section of the Dink Smallwood files. I tried to take a look at the Blended Tut thing I think, for example. But yeah, its just screenshots of certain frames of a 3d model to make 2d images for sprites in the game.

If u make the model u can keep it and when u wanna change something colour/clothing/position *eek* then its easy to do off the original model. She wont need shadows etc added ExD cause they're already with the poser images... To start from scratch with a totally new sprite, poser would be excellent. You even add clothes, bend fingers and so on, its an awesome program.

Ooh... mud-wrestling... not quite as nice an idea as Jello-wrestling (licking another girl clean in really naughty places is actually a turn on for me you know). But thats kinda beside the point, a D Mod by that title would have serious trouble with plot-line development. So no, no mud coated girls for you.
More likely is a sort of Joan of Arc or Xena warrior princess character. Pretty, well dressed, but not prudish or frilly; a lady of the blade!
Or perhaps a sorceress like Morgain La-Fey (who may not actually have been evil; just a believer in equality of the sexes. that would have been "heresy" in those days, some may even have misinterpreted her as evil because she would have supported the ideas of women (gasp) working in all types of jobs, earning their own money, fighting as soldiers, having positions of authority or even owning their own property!! Imagine that! It would have seemed like pure evil to the priests and monks who kept records and wrote down the stories of the villages, not to mention she was a magic user!)
And anyway, I know one shouldn't expect playboy playmates to show up in Dinkworld, but I would have expected some men to have at least tried to make a "perverted" mod, like "nude girls" or a "topless" mod.
Maybe I'm letting my own uninhibited tendencies and experiences to taint my perception of Dink, but still... Dink goes mud wrestling? Come on, it would be more like Dink's daughter goes mud wrestling; a story of how the heir to the Dink legacy climbed the ranks of mud-wrestling to claim the championship title!

I tend to find myself more efficiently pleasurable then a girl But, in regards to DMODs with sex and other desperate-pubescent-teen-inspiring-and-uplifting-(particularly-in-certain-unmentionable-places)-content, you should check out some of Simon Klaebe's stuff
