Re: Graphics Request
Okay, so, I need some graphics for a skelton. A walking skeleton. A walking, fighting skeleton. Preferably with a sword. You see, Unreal was gonna use a spell in his D-Mod where you use it and a bunch of skeleton's come up out of the grave and start attacking your enemies. He isn't gonna use it anymore so I asked if I could use it. He said yes and now I'm gonna use it.
So, I need the graphics for a skeleton. Please could someone make this for me.
Or if you don' want to make a skeleton, then maybe an undead body would be nice. You know, a zomibe. Please, I'd really like these graphics.

I think there's a few skeleton graphics in Bane of the Magi.
Try looking there.

There is one in Pilgrim's Quest as well, though it has a blue energy core in its chest.
You could also take the Dink (with sword) graphics and modify them to a zombie version by changing the coloring a bit. That might be too tedious, though, 'cause you'll need 4 walking sequences (8 frames each), 4 hitting sequences (6 frames) each + some smoke puff for the death frame.
Then again, doing graphics from scratch... much more work

Back from the grave has already got a zombie version of Dink.
There are some good skeletons in Green Voice in my Head etc., have a look there with the editor. I have seen them before but I can't remember where, I don't think they are originally from Green Voice.
Edit: I can't find them in the graphics folder though...?

Green Voice in my head has got so ******* cool skeletor graphics in it.

It's not exactly a skelton though. It's kinda browny. I don't really like it. (Is that what you're talking about?)

How do you suggest I do that? Sounds like a good idea.
A zombie Dink might be better than skeletons. Because if Dink is summoning them, it would probably be cooler if they're all a zombie version of himself.

I'll check that out. But I'll probably use Sharp's idea. Make it myself. It's probably a better idea. New graphics make D-Mods better. Graphics from other people, well, they aren't as good as your own graphics because people have seen them before and they get kinda sick of it.

So, thanks everyone for your replies. I'll choose what's best and then use it.

Please Skull, if you're going to spam my topics, please make it useful. (But then it won't be spam!)
Thanks Znex.

Go into photoshop, take a single sequence, and do some simple alterations to make it look zombish. Maybe more grey and brown tones, less red, dark, less hue, etc. Write down what you do, apply it to every frame that you want/need, and put those back into the dink.ini with the same hardbox info, and your done. I'm not sure if you'll have to apply the dink palette to each frame, if I recall correctly you don't have to with the new version of Dink.
No need to write anything down. Apply the changes as an adjustment layer and copy (drag) the layer to your other frames. Or you could make a script for it, but I don't know the details about that.
Also, for the Dink palette to be obsolete you'll have to run Dink in 32-bit mode. This will, however, disable the option to change palettes, for a negative image effect or something as seen in multiple other d-mods.

I wonder how many of the dev files released here, scripts, graphics or other are actually used in a d-mod. Sure, the latest contest used some of them, but next to that they're almost never ever looked at. I also don't see how your own graphics are better than borrowed once by default... Your Photshop edit may look like crap compared to some of those skeleton graphics. When I'm playing a d-mod, I want the game to look pretty. If I see a scorpion from SoB or a Boat from Dink Goes Boating I don't say: "NOT AGAIN". I say: "Still looks as good as it did before". With new graphics there's always a risk they're not as good and you'll go: "Oh, an attempt at a new graphic... wish he hadn't included it though...". I'm not saying yours won't tunr out okay, but it's a risk.
If we had 500 d-mods on this site and the graphics used in eight or nine other d-mods were recycled again for a new one I'd agree with your statement that at that point originality has higher priority, but right now in our situation, it's quality that counts. Besides, we had dozens of d-mods in the early days with nearly no new graphics and people loved them. You say that if you play, for example, Prophecy of the Ancients now that you won't enjoy it as much anymore because you've gotten bored of the original graphics? We're stuck in a modding community, not a game developer community where we use our own engine.
This isn't an attack by the way, just the way I feel about it.

Yeah, I s'pose you're right Kyle. And Chrispy, i can't do what you suggested because I don't have photoshop. I'm not that experienced in making graphics.
Photoshop, was, say, a euphemism to the using of a photoshop-esque type of program.
Okay. Are there any demos of photoshop around, or paintshop pro or something like that? I can't be bothered to go out and buy them, I'm flat broke.
