"New graphics make D-Mods better. Graphics from other people, well, they aren't as good as your own graphics because people have seen them before and they get kinda sick of it."

I wonder how many of the dev files released here, scripts, graphics or other are actually used in a d-mod. Sure, the latest contest used some of them, but next to that they're almost never ever looked at. I also don't see how your own graphics are better than borrowed once by default... Your Photshop edit may look like crap compared to some of those skeleton graphics. When I'm playing a d-mod, I want the game to look pretty. If I see a scorpion from SoB or a Boat from Dink Goes Boating I don't say: "NOT AGAIN". I say: "Still looks as good as it did before". With new graphics there's always a risk they're not as good and you'll go: "Oh, an attempt at a new graphic... wish he hadn't included it though...". I'm not saying yours won't tunr out okay, but it's a risk.

If we had 500 d-mods on this site and the graphics used in eight or nine other d-mods were recycled again for a new one I'd agree with your statement that at that point originality has higher priority, but right now in our situation, it's quality that counts. Besides, we had dozens of d-mods in the early days with nearly no new graphics and people loved them. You say that if you play, for example, Prophecy of the Ancients now that you won't enjoy it as much anymore because you've gotten bored of the original graphics? We're stuck in a modding community, not a game developer community where we use our own engine.

This isn't an attack by the way, just the way I feel about it.
