I think that the authors will like to see how other people perceived their DMods. So, I will put my humble and fast opinion for them here.
I mean fast, because the not fast alternative is to write a review, and I prefer to write only an impression.

And I could recommend to other people to put their opinion too, in this same topic, or in another.

Until now I have played two DMods**:

- Prelude
- Return to Rathor

**In order about how much I enjoyed playing. Enjoyest ones first.

And now will play "If Ducks Ruled the World". What could it be "ambigious disturbance between two villages"?
Have to see.

Omg! I thought I would spend my day working on my own D-Mod but I checked a few of the new D-Mods and when I got to Marpro's D-Mod I got addicted. I never expected his firs D-Mod to be this great. It's like he had years of experience! I didn't check that much on the rest yet but there's got to be the hell of a D-Mod to beat The fall of Tahmar.

Thanks Erwin
I've played these D-Mods so far:

Elves of Rathor - It was cool, I liked the ending.

The basilisk smile - It's a great D-Mod! Really strange, and I like strange stories

I'm currently playing Cyprys D-Mod. It's fun to play another guy than Dink, and I like the idea of mana

I'm too lazy to play any of them.
That's what happens when you put masses of D-Mods on the site at the same time

Well, Dink Aural+ seems kinda unstable... The two contest games with mp3's both crashed... Attack of the Evil Wizard crashed immediately, and Prelude crashed when I entered the cave. Sigh...

Until now I have really failed 3 DMods **.

- Prelude
- If Ducks Ruled the World
- Return to Rathor

I have also been playing "The Honor Quest", but got stuck, so I will return to it later.

Now I will try "The Fall of Tahmar" and see what are the strange enemies.

I finished The Basilisk Smile today. Is there more than one ending? I only found one. I must say the D-Mod is superbly crafted, it's a bit in the style of Cycles of Evil, but different. It's one of the best romps I've played, ever. Without the contest in mind, it's already a winner for me.

I checked all other entries out for a brief moment, and now I'm playing Prelude, which is also quite good. It feels a bit rushed, but the game is drenched in style, with a big fat Joshriot trademark stamped on it.

I can't say much about the other D-Mods, except that Ex-Peppermint is extremely weird. I can't survive the first screen, but it could be me.

EDIT: Okay, I found 3 endings in The Basilisk Smile, can someone pm me how to see the other two?

Still have failed 3 DMods.

The bad thing is that in "The Fall of Tahmar" Dink got frozen in the bar. This is happenning only to me?

And I have not seen strange enemies yet. ...Only beautifully made scenery instead .

Then the only thing that I can do now is try seeing where Dink lands on "Ex-Peppermint".

Are you using the mini-fireball? "'"
It is supposed to take like 1-10 tries or somethings...
I may have to put an easy mode into the next version, but I want more input before I start it.

Edit:
And it is supposed to be extremely weird.^_^
However I think it should get a bit more normal-ish as things go on...

With Ex Peppermint, I have the same problem, as Joshriot said "i walk into the warp and it essential fades down into nothingness".

I think I will not like this DMod anyway. It has a really weird atmosphere.

Time to return to "The Fall of Tahmar"
September 28th 2006, 09:27 PM

Well it may not make the most sense but the only script that is unusual that may be causeing problems that I can think of
is the PP indicators.
Try commenting or deleting the line that starts it in the beginning in the "start-1" script:
spawn("ppindica");

The PP indicator is not really neccesary anyway and was added last minute.

Edit:

After more testing It seems that it is very likely you are just not waiting long enough...
it is not all typically done so it may take longer to load at the first screen switch then you are used to.

Count to 60 or look at a watch. If you put the screen out of focus during that time; as with all d-mods; it will stop loading so then it won't work. It should take less then 60 seconds but if you want to find out if it is actually working or not you might want to wait that long just to make sure.

Another Edit:
It will show the text (as white probably) still even for a while after it is dark because the text is still being spawned untill the screen fully switches.

I have been entertained with the DMods of this contest . Have failed 4 until now. "The Fall of Tahmar" is little above than "Prelude" in terms of enjoyment, for me.

1- The Fall of Tahmar
2- Prelude
3- If Ducks Ruled the World
4- Return to Rathor

Now I will see how is "Attack of the Evil Wizard". Have already seen "The Basilisk Smile", but got stuck.

I'm still in the middle of play TFoT but I am definately
enjoying it.Some of the screens seemed very familiar at first
but as the game has progressed, it's gotten better.
I did have a problem when I was searching for the kidnapped boy(Rob).
I tried talking to the guy who had the giant daisy in his cellar and
asked if he had seen Rob and it didn't freeze or give any
conversation. Not that it stopped me from finding the kid though.
I'll have to actually finish the game before I can review it but
I can tell you already that I am totally impressed.I hope you
are in the top 3, you certainly have worked hard enough for it.

EDIT: Also, I did have one screen freeze when I hit the m button
accidently and I was next to the sign that said dink's house is that
way and so and so's house is this way...um...you know where I mean?
I couldn't escape or use quit or even spacebar.I had to 'x' it out
which only worked because I was in windowed mode.

That DMod is difficult.

I played it but got stuck in that place where the cemetary is. Will you write a walkthrough?

Anyway, I will need to start again, 'cause forgot what have been doing.

Talking about other DMod; Had someone trouble picking up the scroll that Harriet drops? I have been waiting to be able to continue.

Also, I saw Attack of the Evil Wizard. Seems preliminar... Not playable .

Yes I played and finished Hono>U<r Quest. It's very nice but the major problem is that you don't know exactly what to do. You should give the player a better clue about what to do next. I had to think about it several times before I could finish it. It's also hard to find because parts of the game become visible later in the game like the cave. If you haven't been in the underground library yet there's no cave. If you have been there poof there is a cave. Best would be if the cave is there all the time and that when you try to enter it Martrige might say something like: "I don't have to go there yet". It's not that much but it's better than letting the cave appear later in the story.

It has to be bad luck. I could not find any endings except those when one fails.

I now know why some people said that The Basilisk Smile was extraordinary.
I liked it a lot. Originally, I would have seen 2 endings: That inevitable one, and other at the end. But also saw the first.

Chronologically, the first one did not made sense for me, until now.

I will not continue commenting, anyway. It can spoil someone.

1- The Basilisk Smile
2- The Fall of Tahmar
3- Prelude
4- If Ducks Ruled the World
5- Return to Rathor

Only need to know the end of Honor Quest.

Chop your own wood, and it will warm you twice.
I made it hard on purpose. Usually, many DMODs are hard because the enemies are too strong. But then, any dinker, even if he has almost no knowledge about dinkc, can cheat, by placing potions on the map. On the other hand, puzzles can't be cheated(maybe they can, but it's much harder). Although sometimes you're maybe not sure what to do next, I added some little clues, and made it a bit logical.
For example, you must find a husband for Beth. The problem is that all the men in town are dying, so if they all die, there will be no husband for her. The problem is that you don't know how to cure people. You search through books, and you find out that there is a hidden ancient library. Also, another book sais that the medicine is a forgotten art. So, you know that you have to find the library.
You probably read in my readme that you can use certain items by pressing "space", so make sure you use some of your items(For example, you have a pick. Try to find a use for it).

I also included a good ending, which is even harder to find, because you have to do things in a certain order. The time is short, and if you spend you time trying to heal somebody, you might lose the others. Beth will be too sad to take a husband if her father dies, but if all the other men in town die, who will be the husband? Maybe there is a man left in town, but some people say that the most obvious solution is the hardest to find.
Also, there is a table that you can push, in the table, near the crystal...

You can trigger the worst ending by simply... dying. But I doubt there is someone that didn't reach it.

This was some kind of a walktrough. Hope things will be clear from now on. Have fun

If you are truly stuck on AOTEW, then I can probably help you...

There are not many hints, so figuring out what to do next is a pain.
AS for bugs- I managed to make it to the ending of this one without any problems, but I probably messed something up from insomnia and script-induced headaches...

I was planning to come back to this one and revise it heavily... but looking at people's opinions of it I may just forget about it and work on my next D-Mod.

The only thing that I personally found enjoyable was the Mad Scientist- I intended for all the characters to have his sort of depth- with an intro speech and a constantly modified choice menu, unfortunately I slacked and gave most of the characters what could be called the bare bones for a script. Some of them, eg. the mother and child, I did not even get around to scripting- they just weren't on my list of priorities.

Drink, you say that the list contains 7 D-Mods, but I only see 6. ???
I do not see Ex=Peppermint or Attack of the Evil Wizard here.

(To VonZeppelin)

I did not continue playing The Attack of the Evil Wizard because any person that I talked to did not seem to be saying something (like they were not scripted). May it be a compatibility problem, as I have seen that some people says that Dink V1.08 Aural is not stable sometimes.
I think I should have two Dink Smallwood installed: v1.06 and v1.08 Aural.

And no, 1..7 is the number of smiles, being 1 the least posible. (Like Kikki said)
