Simeon's Poll 2
The second poll

I like both. If you have a linear story, however, it might be better to use small places that guide you. On the other hand, if you have an unlinear story and you can backtrack a lot, vast landscapes are best suited in my opinion.
Mind you, it is very difficult to fill vast landscapes with interesting decoration and events... I've been having this problem ever since I started Legend's Tale, which has a LOT of open places.

I would say the small settings. The problem with large landscape is you get lost and I wish a map was available. Since some dmods, the map is not available I print a map out from Windinkedit. I know it's cheating but a map should be the standard in quests and larger.
My vote would be the small settings. Beautiful landscapes is what makes the dmod appealing and part of the reason why people want to play it.
Simeon, even though your dmod (forgot the title of it) has a small map, it was detailed and beautifully laid out.

It all depends on what you can do. If the landscape is vast but you can do a lot, then it's no problem at all, but if it's just walking a lot of screens to get somewhere...
But if the map is real small, and has no details, then that's a bit boring because you want to see something nice too.
So it's a matter of balance. Now didn't we know that?

I prefer large landscapes, because they give you more of a fell of teh land. Dink did this quite well, as only little parts of teh landscape were available to you at once, so you ended up exploring almost every little bit of teh map.
HOWEVER, the worst thing is having a landscape with not much on it. i *hate* having to repeatedly travel from one side of the map to the other, for quests. Make quests short hops, and don't involve too much travelling, and you'll gain a good 1.5 points on any review of mine

VassSSST! *hehe*
Well, I think big = better, if it's gonna be an epic anyway, but like others said, don't just make all kinds of empty screens, but decorate them nicely and have some events in some, then it'll rule
Think of something like Zelda 64...
