I hadn't realized you were gone...sorry...
Welcome back
My vacation (well, the going-away-vacation) begins the 15th of August just so everyone knows

Yeah! I'm back again too. After spending three weeks in southern France. Too bad it was WAY too hot there (35°C+ on a lot of days (95°F for those of you who're still to lazy to learn how to calculate in Celcius)). This was why I got some serious sunburns, so it definetly feels good to be home again.
I fell over and spent two days on the floor, then one of my siblings came over and rescued me, so I'm back too.
Too lazy to calculate? Bah. Everybody should just plain learn and use centigrade. It's a much more reasonable temperature scale.
I prefer Fahrenheit. During a typical day, it provides all anyone should need. You just need to remember two things:
0 = Really Cold.
100 = Really Hot.
The temperature at which water freezes and boils isn't a major part of everyday life, so why should those be the reference points for an everyday temperature scale?
The only useful example I can think of is rain might turn to sleet around the freezing point, but that usually occurs anywhere from 30-40 degrees Fahrenheit thanks to various atmospheric conditions.
Granted, Fahrenheit is very... sketchy, in that 'really cold' and 'really hot' are not well defined terms. But that's life; right now, as I look outside my window, I think the color of the sky is blue, not #6FCDE8.

The scale for chemistry where 0 stands for the absolute zero point would be the most logical... Jeeze. Celsius took water's freezing and boiling temperatures for 0 and 100 so anyone anywhere could make thermometers. It's not that good a scale in my opinion since 0°C isn't as badly cold as 100°C is hot. Still tops Fahrenheit though, because Fahrenheit is stupid.
Just as well we could all be using my own Viitaniemi scale where 0 stands for "too cold to be naked" and 100 for "too hot to be clothed"

"[T]oo hot to be clothed" varies depending on if you're at Tal's house or not.
What about 0° being the average temperature at the South pole and 100° the average temperature at the equator...
Nah... That'd be to logical
Nah... That'd be to logical
Why not the North Pole? Besides, the average temperature changes with Global Warming.
Ooo I know lets mess with people by making 0° really hot and 100° really cold...
@merlin: A. The southpole is colder...
B. A new scale every year! that'd be cool!
@Vortex: Celcius did that when he invented his temperaturescale... but later on that was switched back. So, yes it could, but for some reason having a lower temperature and a higher number doesn't make sense...

But it would be so cool to walk outside and say, "Jeez mom it's 95°s outside, grab my jacket...she dog"
Lol this is so weird.. ppl are talking about temperatures In Canada and USA. SO off topic.
Yeah, that happens a lot. We're not very strict about it here and it hasn't caused any problems.
The "Americans" are to lazy to convert to Celcius! Makes me wonder why they would send men to the moon but not convert to celcius, as the rest of the world has done.
"the rest"? you mean "Most of" there are still several countries fighting the tyranny of SI...
