A (successful) attempt at producing something even more technical and unappealing than I usually do?
I tried (and likely failed) to make Beuc laugh.
I can't seem to get make_global_function to work still. Whenever I make a new one, the old ones don't work anymore.
Am I doing something wrong

I find it interesting to see CD-ROM support was dropped since I didn't know it was ever included in the first place and probably didn't get used much.
Anyway, i'm trying out the included exe on Windows 7 x64 and am noticing that there's no WAV output. MIDI seems to work fine, however none of the sound effects play.

The CD Rom support was dropped due to SDL2.
Previously FreeDink used SDL (aka SDL 1.2) which had CD Rom support.

Strange, the sound effects work fine for me, using the same operating system.

Beuc, if you port all of this to BSD, you'll become the biggest name in their gaming industry. Port it to openindiana, and Oracle might start funding you.
Thanks for the update RangerLord. I attempted to isolate the issue somehow, and I found that if I force audio through a different soundcard, it plays fine. However out of my main output where I hear no SFX, I get several lines of:
When launched from the command line after quitting. Very peculiar. I've also found that audio files play fine through the playmidi command so I don't understand what's going on.
On top of that, I encountered an issue in FreeDinkEdit where it will spontaneously quit while stamping alternate hard.dat tiles onto a map screen, however I had output suppressed at the time so i'll have to get back to you on that 😩😩😩😩😩
