It's time for the first Recent Release Rumble of 2012!

Only two files in each category were released this quarter, not that many, but it should make for an interesting fight for votes!

Click on the comments to see the files and cast your vote.

The basic rules of the RRR are as follows:

1) You can vote for one D-Mod and for one Non D-Mod file. You cannot vote for two D-Mods or two Non D-Mod files.
2) Voting is done by posting a reaction in this topic with your choice.
3) You can not change your vote. So make sure you think before voting!
4) Only "well known" members are allowed to vote. This means that no ghosts or really new accounts can vote. This is done to prevent people from voting with alternate accounts.
5) Discussion about the files is encouraged. But please, no spamming or attacking other members!
6) The two D-Mods and two Non D-Mod files with the highest amount of votes of each RRR will participate in the Download of the Year Awards for their respective category in february next year.

So what are you waiting for? Cast your vote! Voting ends a week from now.

The choices for this RRR include all D-Mods and non D-Mod files released between January 1st and March 31st. The choices are:

D-Mods:

Trials of a Boy: Enter the Iceland by DinkDude95

Karel ende Elegast by Shevek

Non D-Mod files:

Persistent Loot by Magicman

Town Portal by Pillbug

Let us save our effort and just lie down and die.
A tough call for the non-dmod files: both are useful examples of scripting. I'm going to go with Persistant loot by Magicman though, because I'm not sure how useful "fast travel" would be in the current, minish Dinkiverse!

As for DMods, I'll vote Necromancer this time, because in spite of being devoid of content, it has a cool name and it's a legacy DMod, without having much of a legacy.

Hmm... Although I found Persistent Loot much more complicated than I was hoping, it still gets my vote. It's much more useful and doesn't have as many small mistakes as Town Portal.

As for D-Mods, I'll vote for ToB: Enter the Iceland. Simply cause it's the first quest we've had in a while, I believe. And I like quests. A lot.

Guys, Necromancer was released on april first, which is obviously in Q2. So save your votes until it is in the running.

I shall not vote for a d-mod. I think Trials of a Boy: Enter the Iceland is better, but since I wouldn't vote for myself, I'm not going to vote against myself either.

For non-d-mods I haven't checked persistent loot out yet, so I hope to do that and vote after I did.

Ditto, persistent loot is a really cool concept, but magicdink just had to go out of his way to make it totally completely complicated and impossible to follow.

Programmer donkey!

I checked out persistent loot, and like it a lot. Contrary to some others, I particularly like the hoops Magicman went through to make things work, while keeping the interface for dmod authors as simple as possible.

Town portal is also cool, but earns less points on "doing things which seem impossible", so my vote goes to persistent loot.

Love! True love!
Even though I really liked Trials of a Boy..., I really like the way that
Karel ende Elegast was done. My vote goes to it.

And Persistent Loot. I was talking to magicman for most of what lead to this being created, and for some of its creation, so I had a rough idea of how to use it even before it was released, which may be part of my vote.

D-Mod: Karel ende Elegast
Non D-Mod: Persistent Loot

A last minute vote from me for Trials of a Boy: Enter the Iceland.

I liked Karel ende Elegast for what it was, but it's in a totally different weight class than DD's mod.

Voting's over, I guess. I kinda expected Sparrow to end the voting, since he actually created this RRR, cause I was too busy. But apparently he thinks I'm gonna end the voting, so might as well do it.

Sparrowhawk, you silly baboon.

I wasn't really thinking anything... just have a distinct lack of brains this week. Sorry
