: : : : In "Warlock" the main character is going to get a familiar, but I can't decide whether to have a choice, and what the familiars shall be.

: : : :  I'm thinking that what familiar you get depends on a decision you make, or whether you are good or bad.

: : : :  Thoughts people?

: : : :  And what Dink things would you like to see as a familiar?

: : : A fairy would be cool. As well as a small bonca.

: : : And yes, questions to decide what familiar you get sounds good.

: : : And I don't think everyone understands what you mean by familiar.

: : Before being spirits that assumed animal forms and helped wizards/witches they were servants and sometimes spies of the Catholic Church. Usually working for the Pope and members of the Inquisition in return for support (wages/lodging turning a blind eye to charges of heresy)

: Okay... That I didn't know about familiars Interesting though.

Hmm... I haven't heard that one either. It's an... interesting take on their origins, considering most "sorcercy" (pagan rituals and the like) was around way before the Catholic Church or even Christ. In fact, it's really more associated with witches (their black cat) than with the church. The church or witchhunters, however, did use the accusations of owning familiars (who were deemed demons in disguise by the church) to use as evidence against suspected witches.

That's basically what I can think of without researching it further.
