It's ok Dukie, I like reasonable discussions. What I don't like is virulent, hateful, or unfounded statements that are just thrown out there. So far you sound perfectly reasonable.
Discussion and debate is good. It makes the mind work to clear up the un-understanable and the conscience to examine itself, hopefully for the better.
The USA is a huge target and because it's so powerful, there are always those who will seek to tear it down for reasons of their own. But positive debate and argument can only be a good thing. Which brings up the following thought.....
(Bush) "never got that high scores in school either. So how did he get to be president? I guess the smart people were in Bush's campaign staff."
Wouldn't you think that he was smart enough to get these smart people on his team? And why would intelligent people be willing to work for a dumb man? They must have seen something in him that inspired and/or impressed them.

"people seemed to like the "common man" aspect that is omnipresent in Bush."

I'm not sure what you mean. The beer drinking, the cowboy boots, the Texas ranch? His average grades? What? And if that's "common", I'll take grit and determination and all the rest any day over high intelligence. I've seen what so-called intelligent people can do when it's not combined with common sense or a moral guidance radar. As you said, Bush has some very intelligent people working for him. They can keep him up-to-date on all the issues. It's a smart man that knows who to have around him.

So, the point again: Bush really is dumb
If you don't agree, just say so!

Ok. I did.

As far as the Kyoto thing, this I will have to read up on to make any kind of informed opinion. Why do you think Kyoto is so important? What does it mean to you that makes you dislike Bush so much?

So off I go to visit the wizard... to learn about Kyoto.
*Deep menacing tone* I'll be back.
