NES-era. There are so many NES games where people say "This is one of the hardest games ever", but really, most of the time that is BS. I've recently been playing Battletoads. I've made it to level 8 so far, and is it a difficult game like everybody says? Apart from a few parts, no.

Yeah, I've found that a lot of games on NES aren't hard, but just have terrible controls. Stiff, can't really play too quick. Non-control-wise, jumping back like in Castlevania is more of a bad design choice than anything. There's always a ducking pit and it's just designed to one shot. They're designed this way to artificially lengthen the game because they didn't have much space.

Though, Final Fantasy is pretty long and has a lot of stuff in it. So, maybe that argument is bullshit, who knows.

But I refuse to believe you had no trouble with the Turbo Tunnel. That thing legitimately looks hard as duck. You actually have to react to everything it throws at you and it's not some bullshit trial and error thing since it shows you what's coming and where before it shows up. Only thing there that really looks 100% unfair is the fact you can easily slip through the platforms if you don't jump at just the right time.

You want a hard game, try this. The combat actually allows for a lot to do, so when you get to Zodd, prepare for a stressful ducking fight.

He's also the first boss.
