No, that's no typo. After beating the fire knight on rife, the lost island of odvi rises up from the sea. There are void elemental creatures there; the void knight needs to be battled to get access to void magic, just like the other elements. You needs air, earth, water, fire, void, non-magical, Snedfee's and Gimac's swords, for a total of 8, to create one ultimate sword.

Note that Snedfee's and Gimac's weapons are not unique items; every time you kill a slayer or stone giant (and use one of a few special wells), there is a 1/20 chance that it will give you an item. Then there's a 1/10 chance that it will be the one you want (normal/Snedfee's/Gimac's sword/axe/bow each 1/10, plus 1/10 mega potion). It is just as likely that you get a "correct" weapon (matching one you already have, for example you get Gimac's sword when you already have Snedfee's sword) as it is to get a duplicate weapon.

So to break that down: If you don't care which ultimate weapon you will get, you have 1/20*6/10=3% chance every time to get one. Then to get the second weapon, you have 1/20*1/10=0.5% chance. This means that on average, you need to kill log(0.5)/log(0.97)=23 of those monsters to get the first weapon and log(.5)/log(.995)=138 of them for the second weapon. That is an insane amount of grinding. (It is also slightly off, because during those 138 tries you will get other special weapons, increasing the chance of finding a "good" one.)

I did find a shortcut, however, which is only slightly cheating (it doesn't require editing any scripts; that would obviously be an easy way to get what you want). I'm working on a let's play for Fiat (I started that some time ago; I'll replace it with a new one) where I'll probably demonstrate it.
