True love or not, you never, EVER, interfere with another person's love life, UNLESS one of the partners in that relationship is abusive in some way. Manipulating a person into 'loving' another is a form of abuse, which is what this 'friend' is trying to do. By using you as a proxy, he is attempting, rather futilely, to split two people.
