Heh, I gave Septerra Core to a friend because I didn't care much for it. He said it was pretty good.
Lets see... good old PC games...
Well, there's famous stuff like Deus Ex, TIE Fighter, Wing Commander, Half-Life, and it's expansions.
There are also a few more obscure games like:
Anachronox - This is about as close to a Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy RPG there's ever going to be. It's an excellent blend of humor and galaxy-saving epicness with JRPG combat system. I couldn't recommend this game enough, though I have not gotten it to run on Multi-core computers.
Dark Sun: Shattered Lands - Like more modern party-based D&D RPGs like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, and Dragon Age? This is pretty much it's predecessor, but set in a magical post-apocalyptic world. The Gods are all dead, the world is dying and ruled by tyrannical Dragon-Kings, halflings are vicious cannibals, and you are nothing more than an arena gladiator destined to die for the entertainment of ruling class... well, until you stage a breakout (of which there are multiple routes of accomplishing). I played this game again a few years ago and it still holds up almost two decades later. I'm pretty sure this is abandonware now and will run perfectly on DOSBOX.
