Yeah, okay, Holland's got some nice sights/areas, like the hunebedden or the Veluwe, but even there you're never really alone. Chances are you are certainly not the only one who thought about taking a hike in the woods, or going to the beach when the weather's nice. And when I want to walk in the woods (you can't call it a real forest...) I prefer to walk there on my own. Or maybe with some friends. Okay, maybe one person may pass with a shaggy dog, but that's it! 
German cities do smell indeed. Did you know vast areas of our land (including the Betuwe!) are being extremely polluted by the Ruhrgebied? (though that has more to do with heavy industry than smelly cities )
That town looks really nice! Will go there when I'm in the Czech Republic. Is that where you went to on your holiday?
