Well, uh, learn dinkc. Check dinkc.chm (in the develop folder) for a list of available commands and explanations, there are also several good tutorials available on this website. Look at how stuff is done in other dmods and modify the scripts to fit your own needs.

Oh. I thought you had trouble with EasyDinkC, not DinkC. Scratcher gives good advice on the latter.

Also in Tut1 it says "Create a dir off your root Dink dir that will store the addon. (we'll use ATEAM in this case)" What does that mean??

Edit: I found out what the dir is, but i still have no idea what the ATEAM is.

You still haven't specified your problem, though. You're being way to vague. What do you mean by "things" when you say you don't understand them, e.g.?

"ATEAM" is just an example name. So basically it tells you to make a folder called "ATEAM" in which you're going to create your first addon in. Of course you're free to use something else.

He probably has problems with DinkC and therefore EasyDinkC because it makes writing DinkC scripts easier, except if you don't know how to use DinkC, in which case EasyDinkC wouldn't be understandable to him either.

Eh, I don't really fancy that tut1 thing. If you read it properly, it would say to create your D-Mod in the directory "X:\Program Files\Dink Smallwood\ATEAM\" where X:\ is the drive you installed to. You probably put your D-Mod in your own custom directory. That might be what's wrong.

The problem isn't that i cant find my game (yet) it's that it wont open, and when i look for the X:\ thing it says "X:\ refers to a location that is unavailable"

Of course it is! Have you been reading right? "X:\ is the drive you installed Dink on". <_<

lol!! how could someone misinterprate that? well, maybe someone who doesn't know (or someone that believes that you know exactly where they installed dink despite the fact they could be living thousands of miles apart)

isn't the default directory C:\?

Okay, rename your D-Mod folder to "mymod". Then, open up your command prompt and type: dinkedit -game mymod. That will work. Unless you've done something else wrong.

Okay, it obviously won't work on your PC for whatever reason. Try compatibility mode on the program (it's in the dinkedit.exe's properties) and if that doesn't work your best bet might be to use a different editor, like WinDinkEdit.

Command prompt: Start -> Run -> "cmd"

Make sure in your "Dink Smallwood" folder there is the file 'dinkedit.exe'. If there isn't, reinstall Dink.

You must be doing something wrong. Because if you did exactly as I told you, you would be running DinkEdit by now.

Or, may I suggest use WinDinkEdit.

Remember you're unique, just like everyone else.
I've found WinDinkEdit to be a lot easier than DinkEdit, mainly because you can see all the information directly and you can edit and create the scripts without having to find them.

An exe file will not ask you what you want to run it with.

Any fool can use a computer. Many do.
While WinDinkEdit may have the windows, I'd still recommend DinkEdit because once you know the keys, it's a lot faster to develop a map in DinkEdit than in WinDinkEdit. For example, I have yet to find a fast way to texture a screen in WinDinkEdit (FYI, manually clicking all the tiles and stamping isn't fast whereas DinkEdit allows you to use the arrow keys to go to the adjoining tile).
