The Dink Network

i'm currently working on a dmod called DESA (Dinks Extremely Short Adventure, isn't short at all though for more information visit Chaotic Dink at http:\\groups.msn.com\chaoticdink ) and whenever you equip magic, the game crashes. Is there anything anyone can tell me i might be doing wrong?

p.s. if you need to inspect the files i will upload it at Chaotic Dink

How can we help if you're not showing your code? Please show us the scripts that are related to the magic...

i only have fireball magic and i downloaded the iceball/super iceball dev files and added that. it only crashes whenever you equip magic. since my dmod is a bit large i will upload just the scripts and any script related to the magic at http://groups.msn.com/chaoticdink (it's a site i helped make)

I need to login to be able to view that. That's always a bad thing, just copy and paste the contents of those two scripts right in here.

If &magic_cost is less than 100 when you equip magic, the game will crash. I think. Its been a while... it could be &magic_level, or a different value.

When I was working on a (super) fast spell, I set the &magic_cost to something like 30, and the game didn't crash maybe it was something else...
P.S. Why is MSN groups ancient, it is easy for FB5 and me to use cause we're only 11/12, if you can recommend a free alteritave, FB5 and I would be very happy.

i checked the item-fb.c script and couldn't find any conflicts

i copied the lines EXACTLY as they should be written

i am using the fireball spell from the original dink

i find MSN groups easier to use than this site because:
1. i can delete files i upload
2. i can upload whatever i want

if you could find an alternative i would like it to be secure so only i can delete my files
and i must be able to delete them
and upload them
and whatever else

P.S. why does magic crash? i think we're getting slightly off track with all this talk about msn groups

Umm just delete the fireball spell from the dmod directory and just set all the relating scripts to the original Dink script name. That way it will use the original script from Dink, if you didn't already know that .

black guard, remember i sent you a copy of DESA? you should know that there is NO FIREBALL SPELL in my dmod dir. it DOES use the dang original so that doesn't help (why are ppl like this these days? don't know anything)

it also says in my previous post (the big one) that i am using the original script from the dink dir. i have heard of selective hearing,but selective sight? don't make up any excuses, there is no excuse.

well i might have to continue asking around and hopefully someone can help. i will see if it is possible to upload files in development stage and will try and upload DESA (still in development) with all the files. i'm only doing that because of the magic error, but if you find any other bugs let me know.

MSN Groups is so ancient for the exact reason I gave. I also think 98% of the MSN groups have died out by now.

oh well. by the time DESA gets uploaded i would have already fixed the problem.

believe it or not but my DMOD has suddennly decided to be nice and lets me arm magic now (wtf?) but the magic thingie that goes around the icon won't fill up and therefore i cannot use magic (the little bar that when full, you can use magic. when you use magic it recharges)

too late it fixed itself (wtf?)
