Midi not playing in XP
So, I've been away for so long and I wanted to try out some d-mods, including my own, but apparently I'm not getting any midi music ingame (sound files are fine). I'm running Windows XP. I'm hoping someone else has had this problem over the years and knows the solution to it

Do other midis work outside of the game?
The problem I have right now is that whenever I play a midi in windows media player the midi volume is muted. This doesn't seem to affect windows media player, but for all other programs midis are muted. Check your volume settings if something similar is the problem for you.

That happens with me too when using WMP(not specifically with MIDI but mp3), if we change the volume from within WMP.
Open the windows volume control(double click). In my case the wave control was automatically decreased with decrease in volume in Wmp but not restored when we increase volume again from within WMP.
So whenever this happens you may check advanced volume control and see if any of the bars are low.
