What is Novashell?

Novashell is a high-level 2D game maker that tries to handle all the hard work behind the scenes allowing you to whip up sweet games using pathfinding, dialog, persistant dynamically sized maps with contruction/decontruction, save anywhere, and especially features that adventure and RPG type games would use. It's also built to allow easy sharing of games you make and modding of them. The underlying concept is everything is cut and pastable and can be added and removed even during play.

The worlds/games/mods it makes can be played under Windows, OS X (universal binaries available), and Linux without changes.

Free to use and distribute stand-alone games.

I think old Dink games are soon dying! Eww... Say, who many people are starting to make d-mods with this style? I think the editor is just... impossible

Haha, Seth announced it here himself, Harshit. We have been able to test it for some time now (months).

Personally, I'm going to wait till someone actually makes a game with this so I have source code examples and graphics to "borrow" from.

Well, well
I did read that thread when it had only 6/7 posts. And then I vanished from TDN for a few months. So I missed it whole.
I had an image that it was a 3D and paid rpg platform. And I actually opened rtsoft.com for info about this game.
What I found there was a 2d freeware, Novashell(had forgotten the name). And I thought it was something new.

But still,
how can people call it boring?
And about bugs look up the date in my 1st post. There's a lot difference in the October2006 version and now. Lot of new features have been added.

I thought some dinkers(eg Wesely) who have already made a dmod and want to improve it, then why not use NS. Is it too complex for them?

I've tried (playing only)it and find it lot better than the current dink engine. Think it people they both have been made by the same man and there is a {almost} 10 year diff. in there release.

So it leaves only the graphics problem. I am sure Seth can make a program to convert dink graphics to NS Graphics. Thinking otherwise if[?????] NS can use bmp graphics then this thing is also not much a problem.<we already have .ff to .bmp converter>

I have one question though about how much complex is it in comparison too Dink? Someone who has tried{dink and new vs of NS} both please answer.

Many things are simpler than in Dink, such as adding graphics, but the overall complexity of the system is much greater.

It's not boring, it looks promising and flexible in a whole. But the learning curve goes up.

Yes, it is. Also it is still v0.22 alpha. Not ready to use for dink yet. Seth is still developing it.

I was too quick to post this thread.
