Tile Hardness
Just a small question, why do some tiles have the same hardness? I've been trying to edit hardness but when I look around, the hardness I edited are on completely unrelated tiles! Am I doing something wrong?
Nope, some tiles do indeed share the same hardness, it's quite annoying. That's why I've chosen not to edit the hardness at all and settle with what's already there. Not an ideal solution in every case I admit...
I have read everything I can find on hardness editing and have decided to use the Hard.dat from the original Dink adventure.
While their custom redrawn versions no doubt work better for the authors, they are insuffecient to my needs.
It is said that there are "holes" in the original set, but if that is true, I will live with it. And, since I am not going to edit any hardness, the number of indexes used is not an issue.
In many cases, pasting hardness is clumsy. Either you make too big an area hard or allow Dink and friends to walk through a corner of a roof or something. I have studied the work of some of the "giants" and it seems to be an accepted situation.
I recommend you use the original set.
