I am a newbie to the world of Dink. I wish I had known about this project and group much earlier. I have battled through some very clever DMODS, enjoying every bit of it. I am intrigued with development and have downloaded all the reference material I could find. I read/write American English, but I will somehow overcome that handicap. I am retired so I have lots of timwe to study. I should be turning out trash in no time.
Welcome to the cult. Please accept this dead maiden as an offer. And good luck with developing, if you need any help, lots of people would gladly help you out. Yes, this community is so friendly, it's scary.
/me sneaks up and gives the traditional welcome backrub.

Whoa! I have been sorting through the tools available, and am confused at best. I have looked at two Dink C Editors; WinDinkEdit ver 1.4 BETA, and WinDinkEditPlus Ver 1.1. The GUI or front end looks identical, and and there are no release dates, so I can't tell who copied the other's work - and mayhaps improved on it? So I have decided to use Ver 1.4 Beta.
Now I read the ReadMe. First paragraph has info about starting a new DMOD. Second paragraph states the program cannot create a DMOD.
I scratches me head, and marvels in wonderment as I press on, trying to follow the Video Tutorial that I think is for the ver. 1.4 Beta, but I can't tell.
No matter. I will sort this out eventually, and maybe in time to grab the rear rail on the caboose of the train of intelligence as it passes me by.

They aren't DinkC editors, but map editors. WinDinkEditPlus is the improved version, but the video tutorials SimonK made are for WinDinkEdit (no Plus, but they'll probably work).
Any ASCII text editor (like Notepad) can be used as a DinkC Editor. There are a few specialised editors, like cypry's DinkC Editor and Phoenix' EasyDinkC.
EasyDinkC isn't updated for the new commands in Dink 1.08, but it'll probably work for whatever you want. I don't know how this is for DinkC Editor. DinkC Editor's error check function is much better than EasyDinkC's. On the other hand, you have five different fingers. Also EasyDinkC has code generation wizards for almost anything pre-1.08.
I can't say which one is better, you should probably try both and see which one you prefer.

I've been using a combo of good ol' notepad for regular viewing and the freebie
Notepad Plus for the final check. Notepad Plus already has a basic C file template, so it can sytax check our stuff pretty well, very handy.
