I think that's the first day in a *long* time where I didn't see a new post for an entire day.

It's a sign finals are upon us.

That's not it. We're all anxiously awaiting Sabre Trout's new epic and we don't want to disturb him. Shhh..Be very quiet.

There are a lot of things about to happen though. The new generation of miasma should be coming soon, we're all still waiting for Necromancer, Sabre is indeed working on some things, and I'm almost done with the demo of Scenia (although it's just for beta testing, I'll not release it in public )

I expect an activity explosion around christmas.

Someone has to say it.

And no, I don't think the community is dying.

I don't think its dying or anything like that. Since the time when all the other dink related websites were shut down and only this site remained there has been constant but not too much activity. It was a rare occasion when there was not a single post on the day.

Eh, give it a week and there will be a fair number of people all coming back in withdrawal. Fools, thinking that they aren't addicted.

Ah, well, I don't think that button would do very much as, as far as I know, there is no delete user function in the database.

The SQL function DELETE, to delete data from a database? Don't forget he's the site manager.

Mmmm, pizza.
Yep, "DELETE FROM users" would kill us all.

Except when there are any foreign keys set that complain. In that case, all depending tables should be killed too...

Not to give anyone any ideas...

Well, I more so meant a specialty button that would kill user $xyz. Sure, if he really wanted to, he could corrupt the database. That would basically get rid of all users, eh?

Sometimes, nuking the site from orbit *isn't* the solution.

"Except when there are any foreign keys set that complain. In that case, all depending tables should be killed too..."

Depends on what version of SQL is used... Most MySQL versions miss something big by default: forbidding the deletion of an item if it has relations in other parts of the database, to prevent data that points to unexisting data. Or deleting those too. Standard MySQL doesn't care. Only the InnoDB version of MySQL supports that by default.

I love my new school.

I've never used foreign keys in MySQL, didn't even know it has them. As you said, a lot of installations don't.

And then I learned PostgreSQL.

So we point out there exists a delete user function in the database

I think we have a slight miscommunication here...

I can make an html button that does nothing, unless I also create a function for it to call. See, I'm in physics, and if something isn't explicitly said, it does not exist. Unless it does, and thenseforth you are dumb for not implicilty realizing thusly.

/finals are crushing me. Like the scum I am.

Hm, I meant that MySQL doesn't support referential integrity by default, but I forgot that name at the time I was writing that post.
