'New' button does not work - or does it?

I try to keep up with you all by looking at the 'New' button/flag that tells us when there have been new posts in a category. But it seems not to work properly. Sometimes after looking at some new posts the flags are gone; at other times flags are there when I'm positive I pressed the Mark All As Read button.

?!?!?

The 'New' graphics work as they were designed to, but it is a little confusing.

When you first view the board, you essentially have a time limit (like 5 or 10 minutes) in which those messages will stay labeled as 'New'. After that, the 'New' graphic is removed.

ok. So we have to speed up the reading (lol)? Then how do you keep track of posts you want to respond to?

Yeah, that's it. You're gonna have to hurry if you don't visit the board for a few days or so. ^^ In the past the posts used to have the sticker until you read them or marked all as read, but that sytem was changed for some reason clear only to the one with the banana fetish.

It'd be better if a thread was labeled 'New' if you didn't read it yet, and they will be removed if you log off, look at the post, or click the 'Mark all as read' button.

When that happens to me sometimes, I just click on the "General", "Development" and such links. As the links I haven't visited appear as light blue, those I have as dark blue, it's no problem to me.

I agree, DaVince; that would make it far easier to keep track.

Vukodlak: That works only for newly posted threads, not for newly posted posts. That makes it still pretty useless as new threads usually draw my attention anyway.

It looks like it works for newly posted posts aswell with me... With "links I haven't visited" I meant links that have been updated(commented).

Still, I have the odd feeling that something is not quite how it should be. I'm pretty *d$#@* sure I pressed MAAR yesterday before logging off, and now the forum tells me some posts are new that I definitely saw already. So how come?
