Initiation bugs

Cast Awakening Part 1: Initiation

A while after the release of Initiation, I noticed four bugs, fixed them, and sent this message to Redink1, along with the bug fixes :

*******************************************

Hi Redink1,

I found and fixed a few bugs in Initiation.

-First, if you choose to leave while talking to the pimp ( Level 4 ),
Dink will say ' Can I get the services of one of the women ? ' ; but even
if you choose 'Okay', nothing happens . I fixed this bug by deleting some
lines.

-Second, if you choose "Operation : Septicity" while talking to the
infected prostitute ( Level 4 ), Dink will accept Liaison's offer before the
player can do anything, and he won't even pay her. I fixed this too.

-Third, if you talk to the king's gate 100 times ( Level 0 ), Dink is
stuck and cannot move. I added a line which fixed that bug.

-Fourth, Dink is supposed to say "Die!" while talking to a red heart (
Training Grounds ), but he doesn't . I managed to fix this.

Also, don't you think the sixth sense should show the path to the fire
sword ? ( it's not a bug, so I didn't edit anything . It's just a
uggestion ).

With this mail are the files I edited ( L4pimp.c ; L4prost2.c ;
L0field.c; en-hrtbr.c ) .

Initiation was great ! I might try to make a walkthrough for it,
though I'm currently working on a walkthough for Cloud Castle 2 ( yes, I
know a walkthrough for Initiation has already been posted, but I'd like to
do my own walkthrough ).

Good luck working on Paragon, by the way.

Ducklord ( Cyril Saugère ).

Here's Redink1's reply :

Hi Ducklord,

Hmm... that's very strange. I fixed those bugs in v1.0.1... and I
just downloaded it again to make sure, and sure enough, those bugs are
fixed.

Did you happen to download it back when v1.0 was released, and just
get around to playing it now?

Oh, and someone already wrote a walkthrough, but it definately doesn't
cover everything

Thanks,

Of course, I was very surprised, and I tried downloading the dmod and installing it again. Then I sent him this message:

***************************************

Hi again Redink,

It IS very strange because I played v1.0.1 before I sent you this mail, and
sure enough, those bugs were not fixed.
Perhaps it's a 'site download' problem. Anyway, you made a list of the bugs
you fixed in Initiation, and those bugs weren't in the list.
That's weird.
Perhaps you should try deleting the whole dmod, then installing again,
beacuse that's what I did, (I wanted to be sure) and the bugs were here.

Redink1's reply :

Hi Ducklord,

Here's what I did before I e-mailed you last:

1) Deleted my init directory
2) Downloaded Initiation from The Dink Network (I just checked, and
the file is the same filesize on imgoingbed)
3) Installed

And the bugs... are not there.

In fact, I think I fixed those bugs in the beta... did I ever send
that to you? Is something very, very odd going on?

I was even more surprised and sent him this message :

****************************************
Nobody ever sent me the beta of this game. Here's what I did, anyway :

-I downloaded v.1.0 from The Dink Network a few months ago.
-When you updated Initiation to v.1.0.1, I downloaded it, deleted my init
directory, and re-installed the game. And the bugs WERE here.

Here's the 'change' file from my init directory in case you're curious. It
says 'v1.0.1', but the bugs I told you about aren't in the list.

So I guess there IS something very, very odd going on.

Ducklord.

*******************************************

I never received a reply. Perhaps he thought that wasn't important enough, or maybe he did send me a reply and I never got it, or maybe I shouldn't have used caps to show that I was surprised and even a little amused while he thought I was being aggressive, or whatever.

Anyway, one or two months ago, I downloaded init.dmod from another computer and put it on a USB drive. I then deleted Dfarc, Initiation, and my old init.dmod file. I 'copied and pasted' the new init.dmod onto my computer and downloaded the latest version of Dfarc. I installed Initiation. And the bugs are still here. So I am asking you, o members of The Dink Network, did Redink1 upload the wrong file? Do YOU have the bugs I mentioned in my first message to Redink1?

EDIT : The post should be slightly more readable now.

Thanks, Redink!
