I know by now its a bit weird game, but is the screen supposed to turn black when its the second winter and he is going to see Sam? It turns black both after exiting his house and his shop.
I managed to get through though, but are now stuck trying to fight the pig. How do you fight when Ctrl gives you a nice season display?

No, the screen isn't supposed to turn black... odd. It is probably a fluke with the pallete changing.
Anyway, Ctrl should either do nothing or attack. Hitting Enter should pause the game and show the current season.
